Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has counselled Nigerian leaders against disconnecting from the people after getting into positions of authority.
According to him, leaders must know that the positions they occupy must not create a gap between them and their people.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Idowu Adelusi, in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, quoted the governor as saying the main reason for being a leader was to impact people’s lives positively.
“Apart from being able to gauge the mood of the people and get feedback from them concerning government policies, it is also an avenue to educate them on steps being taken by the government too.
“Not many of them have access to those in authority, and a good leader must be ready to serve and not disconnect himself from those he is leading,” he said.
Some of the residents at Irewumi Estate in the outskirts of Ado Ekiti, told the governor about the poor power supply to their community.
In his response, the governor said the power sector had been privatised and that the people too should be ready to promptly pay their electricity bills.
While promising more government presence in their community, he charged them to support his administration with prayer. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
