Labaran Maku wants tribunal to declare him winner of Nasarawa State governorship poll


The Nasarawa State governorship candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in the last general elections, Labaran Maku, yesterday asked the Nasarawa State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia to declare him winner of the election.



Maku, who appeared before the tribunal in person as the first witness, presented certified true copies of result forms EC8A, EC8B, EC8C,EC8D, EC8E and VP forms from the 11 of the 13 local governments areas of the state.

He said in the exhibit presented that here were proofs that there were over voting in most of the polling units in the state.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the hearing, counsel to Maku, Joe Kyari Gadzama (SAN), expressed hope that they were going to win the petition, adding that his client won the election with over 17,000 votes.

Gadzama also hailed counsels at the tribunal for their maturity and expressed optimism that his client would be declared winner, having gathered evidences for the tribunal.

Also speaking to newsmen, the counsel representing Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura expressed satisfaction with the hearing, adding that there was no over voting since the Independent National Election Commission, INEC, guidelines allowed for additional votes right.
