Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has tagged the South-Easterners in Nigeria as the “sleeping political giants” of the country, charging other Nigerians to inculcate the business and proactive nature of the Igbos.
Okorocha who was a member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s entourage to the United States on a four-day visit wrote his thought on social media platform, Twitter.
“Igbos are the sleeping political giants of Nigeria and the time has come for us to take our rightful place in Nigerian politics,” the governor who is in his second term in office wrote.
He then urged Nigerians from other part of the country to emulate the Igbos and strengthen the national unity of the west African country. “If other parts of Nigeria travel and invest in different regions like Ndigbo do, our national unity will never be threatened,” Okorocha urged. You are absolutely right sir. In terms of economic and trade achievement, Igbos are at the forefront. No doubt

ReplyDeleteGood talk Rochas. The Igbos should liberalise their voting or political pattern from being a dogged follower to seeing and believing in a good candidate for our great country rather than being sectional. Secondly, they need to be more accommodating so that other tribes could come and invest in their localities.
ReplyDeleteExcellent points.
DeleteIgbos should start to look inwards to themselves for progress and stop blaming other sections of the country. Let the Ibo billionaires establish enterprises that can employ hundreds of thousands. Let's see the Igbo equivalents of Dangote and Adenuga. Let the Igbo traders stop ganging up against other tribes in the same business as themselves. As long as this attitude continues, non-Igbos would not invest in Igbo land.
we have your so called Dangotes and co but they did not make their money from stealing in Nigeria treasury.
DeleteCheck out Innoson motors and many more
You are one of those with the mentality that every wealthy Nigerian is a thief. What did Dangote steal from the Nigerian treasury? And what did Adenuga steal? These people have established business empires that employ thousands of Nigerians of all tribes. If you really believe that the Dangotes and the Adenugas made their moneys by looting the Nigerian treasury, you should launch a campaign to stop Igbos from working for them. By the way, can you name Igbo business entreprenuers in the same class as these men, but who have not looted the nation's treasury?
DeleteInnoson Motors? I have never heard of them. Probably just a family business employing a few Igbos. Let me help you: Chief Paschal Dozie started Diamond Bank which employs thousands. You need a lot more of such people in Igbo land.
