The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested one Mrs. Ann Igwe in relation with the Biometric Contract Scam involving billions of naira belonging to pensioners.
Igwe was the Secretary to the former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina.
Investigations revealed that the operatives of the commission arrested Igwe last week. She has since been under interrogation in Abuja.
It was further gathered that the woman was still being held by operatives of the commission as of the time of filing this story on Thursday.
She was also said to have released ‘useful information’ to those grilling her.
A source at the EFCC said that the commission was looking into how the money for the biometric contract awarded with the objective to streamline pension was diverted.
Our correspondent could not get the Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, to comment on the story, as calls to his mobile telephone line indicated that it was either switched off or in an area outside network coverage.
