Buhari has a lot of work to do - US

United States government has said President Muhammadu Buhari has a lot of work to do to end the ongoing Boko Haram attacks in the country.

This was stated at a press briefing on Wednesday by the US Department of State.

According to the US Department of State’s spokesman, John Kirby, the US will do what it can to help the Federal Government. He added that the exact amount of money the US government will commit to the fight against terrorism in Nigeria was not available at the time he was fielding questions from journalists.

Kirby said, “We want to do what we can to help President Buhari as he begins to form his government and set the priorities and goals for his administration. Certainly security support with respect to counter-terrorism, particularly Boko Haram. He has already taken some steps, particularly in the security sector, to try to improve their ability to go after a group like that. You know he basically hired all new chiefs of staff for his military services.

“So there’s a lot of work to do, and he was very frank yesterday that he knows he has a lot of work to do. And he does want the support and help – again, I just – I can get you the dollar figure later. But I suspect that that support will change too over time as the needs in Nigeria are better defined going forward under his leadership.”

In a related development, Boko Haram on Wednesday killed 50 people following two suicide attacks and series of bomb blasts in Gombe State and Cameroon.

Last week (Thursday), 49 people were killed in a bomb attack on a market in the state.

    1. One thing you failed to understand was that GEJ ran an open and transparent government that made us to know who and who that are involved in looting Nigeria's treasury. This present administration is highly secretive and are currently milking the nation dry because PMB is running this country as a sole administrator, considering the fact that his promise to declare his assets publicly has not been met. My question to you is that don't u think that he (PMB) is filling his ban now pending when he will form his government? What is so difficult in declaring his assets publicly considering the fact that Yar'Adua (RIP) declared his publicly within 30days of takeover of his government?

    2. I will take you comments just on the face of it,it's obvious you don't trust yourself hence your inability to see beyond your nose.If you can really tell good from bad you wouldn't even mention Jonathan as a morally responsible and ethical leader.Shame some Nigerians are so corrupt that they can't tell what's good from bad anymore

  2. No nation can fight evil with another form of evil. Truth is the present regime do not posses the moral ground to fight corruption with the Ameachi's and Tinubu's in their fold.
