The immediate past governor of Rivers state, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has raised alarm over attempts by Governor Nyesom Wike to intimidate, threaten and blackmail officials of his (Amaechi’s) administration, including civil servants into making false, phony and bogus claims of alleged corruption and corrupt practices against him (Amaechi) and his wife, Judith; through concocted claims that cannot be substantiated.
Amaechi also debunked claims by Wike that the seat of power in the state, Government House, Port Harcourt was vandalized and looted by him.
He described Wike’s provocative utterances as another cheap smear campaign and ploy to siphon billions of naira from the State treasury under the guise of renovating a ‘vandalized’ and ‘looted’ Government House.
This was contained in a statement released on behalf of the former Governor by his spokesman, David Iyofor.
It can be recalled that the new Peoples Democratic Party government in Rivers State accused former governor Rotimi Amaechi of stripping bare the State House in the capital of Port Harcourt.
Governor Nyesom Wike made the allegation weekend, stating it as reason he would not move into the State House too soon, preferring instead to operate from his home.
Amaechi stated that Wike had gone to ridiculous and absurd lengths to show his imaginary claims of vandalisation and looting in Government House in his bid to vote billions of naira for renovation of the place.
He said, “I am aware that this (Monday) morning, Wike in company of his coterie of court jesters took some video cameramen and photographers on a tour of the Governor’s residence inside Government House. He took them to the Governor’s bedroom where he made further claims that the place have been looted.”
“The question to ask is, did Wike know what was in my former bedroom before now, to conclude that the bedroom was looted? Did he speak with or review with the Permanent Secretary of Government House, who is the chief accounting officer before jumping into such hasty and misguided conclusion?”
“Apparently, he had already reached a conclusion before arriving Government House, and all he has been saying and doing is to work towards that conclusion of looting and vandalisation. It’s instructive to note that on Friday, May 29, Wike had barred some key officials of Government House, including civil servants from accessing the place. 48 hours later, he started shouting ‘vandalization and looting’. This doesn’t smell right. I left the place intact. If there’s any vandalization or looting in Government House after I left, Rivers people should ask Wike what happened.”
“This is clearly a grand conspiracy to siphon state funds in the guise of renovating a vandalized and looted Government House and falsely smear my image. On the latter, Wike is sparing no expense, employing all sorts of insidious tactics to accuse me and rub me with the tar of corruption.”
“I am aware that a plot is on by Wike to harass, intimidate, threaten, blackmail and do whatever it takes to get officials, including civil servants, who served in my administration to make false and phony claims of corruption against me, personally, and my dear wife, Judith; in spite of the fact that my wife was never an official of Government or public officeholder. These false, bogus and illusive claims can never be substantiated but Wike doesn’t care. All he wants is to taint my good name with screaming headlines of corruption and corrupt practices in the media. But, he will certainly fail.”
Amaechi urged the media to beware of this plot, scrutinize thoroughly and disregard any of Wike’s wild and false claims of corrupt practices against him and his wife. He further advised the media to be weary and discard the stage-managed video by Wike purportedly showing the looting and vandalization of Government House, Port Harcourt.
However worried by the alleged llooting of facilities in the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt by the former Governor of the State, Rotimi Amaechi and his aides, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Felix Obuah has sent a passionate appeal to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to prevail on Amaechi, to kindly return all the looted items, as failure to do that will continue to present both the APC and the former Governor Amaechi in bad light.
The PDP Chairman condemns such action as criminal action of the former Governor, Amaechi, describing it as shocking and embarrassing to the people of Rivers State, the political class as well as the APC.
Obuah notes that the alleged massive looting of public facilities in the State, more of which is evident in the Government House, further exposes the disposition of former Governor Amaechi, which the PDP has over the years consistently complained about.
The PDP sees no justification for former Gov. Amaechi to be that wicked as to treat the people and a State that have fed him all his life the way he did, saying it considers the alleged looting of the Government House by Amaechi’s administration as unwarranted and least expected of a public personality.

Governor Nyesom Wike, my advise to you is this: Do exactly what Ex. Gov. Amaechi used to do to PDP and GEJ when he was the governor of Rivers State. And what is that? Gather all the media houses in the world, including Al Jazeera, VOA and BBC, to the Brick House and let them see the place the way it is now, after Amaechi left. Then they should be allowed to do a comprehensive video coverage of the state of the Brick House, showing all the vandalized places and worth of the damage or looting in dollars and cents. Thereafter it should be broadcast to the world so that persons like Jessie Jackson will see the kind of individual Rotimi Amaechi really is. If you, Gov. Wike do not do this, your allegation will not stick, and Amaechi will get away yet again as his defense and allegation against you that you are creating a ploy to loot billions in the name of "Renovation"will surely stand.

He should also remember that he has promised to take of mama piss, peter odili etc and they are already back in Port harcourt... he should stop lying and loot to keep his promise with them.

DeleteWhat makes you think that any and every individual that comments here in favour of what is observable must be a member of one political party or another. I don't have to be a member of PDP to tell Wike to prove his claims using video clips for the world to see it, especially those who are dining with Amaechi now, so that they can be forewarned. We can't see a monster on the loose and we leave it to be working free because for now we not the target of it insatiable appetite. What about tomorrow? So if Wike does not produce the video clips to prove his allegations, then he is the monster that we must beware of. If he produces a convincing video clip to the world to expose Amaechi, then anyone having dealings with Amaechi now should start considering an instant retreat. I am niether a PDP nor an APC member, but I must say it the way it is.
If he looted only property sef, Rivers people will be rejoicing. But he looted the soul of Rivers State and raped thier dignity for personal and political upliftment. For Rotimi Amaechi, nothing is wisdom, truth or morality. Everything is politics! People like this must never be given opportunity to get power. If u give a mad man a hammer, everything is a nail. He succeed in dividing his village, his community, his State, his party, the judiciary, the legislative house in the State, the governor's forum.... to mention but a few.... The devil rejoiced when Rotimi got power as Governor.... Now he's in Abuja..... I dey laff o.... I won't tell you my predictions.... But Buhari should slap his seat belt on. Thank you Lord for liberating Rivers State.

DeleteThere was a good and reasonable question Amaechi raised here, he asked if Wike knew how his bedroom looked like befor now, that he (Wike) will be telling the world about looting. It is even petty for Wike to be accusing Amaechi of looting cutleries, blinds etc. what will this man be doing with all these? He better settles down to business for we think his stay there will not be for long as he will lose out through the election petitions tribunal.

Wike must not fail and tell us it is because of Ameachi. I do not want to hear assistant pastor story again.
Amaechi, your defence is not tenable, You could have arranged for a guided tour of the Government, house with your successor before leaving office just as is it done in sane society but your ego and self -acclaimed all powerful and all knowing status would not allowed you to do it. You looted the office and you must return all those item. You refused to handover formally to your successor, you refused to arrange for any transition committee to interface with the incoming regime , and one can safely conclude that it was a grand design to loot and siphon all the properties of Government.
ReplyDeleteWike shld focus on rebuilding Rivers state and forget Amechi, Amechi bleed the state dry, but Rivers pple will not forgive Wike if he doesn't do well. As for those supporting Amechi keep supporting him. Wike just focus and do the best you can for Rivers pple.
