Togo’s new Prime Minister Selom Komi Klassou took office on Wednesday after a power handover ceremony, official media reported.
In his inaugural speech, Klassou said he will endeavor to take inspiration from former Prime Minister Ahoomey-Zunuway who has found a solution to satisfying the needs of Togolese people.
He also said that he expected a full implementation of the political program that helped Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe secure a third term in general elections in April this year.
“The people are in expectation, (and) we now have to get to work,” Klassou said.
President Gnassingbe appointed Klassou on June 5 to succeed Ahoomey-Zunu, who resigned on May 22, to be the new prime minister of Togo.
Klassou is a key member of the ruling Union for the Republic and has been the senior vice-president of the national assembly since 2007.
