Saraki, Dogara treacherous, disloyal - APC

The All Progressives Congress has described as totally unacceptable and the “highest level of indiscipline and treachery” the conduct of Tuesday’s inauguration of the National Assembly that led to the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki and Mr. Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively.

This was contained in a statement by APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Abuja on Tuesday.

APC said, “Senator Bukola and Hon. Dogara are not the candidates of the APC and a majority of its National Assembly members-elect for the positions of Senate President and House Speaker. The party duly met and conducted a straw poll and clear candidates emerged for the posts of Senate President, Deputy Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, supported by a majority of all Senators-elect and members-elect of the House of Representatives.

“All National Assembly members-elect, who emerged on the platform of the party, are bound by that decision. The party is supreme and its interest is superior to that of its individual members.

”Consequently, the APC leadership is meeting in a bid to reestablish discipline in the party and to mete out the necessary sanctions to all those involved in what is nothing but a monumental act of indiscipline and betrayal to subject the party to ridicule and create obstacles for the new administration.”

APC decried a situation in which some people, based on nothing but “inordinate ambition and lack of discipline and loyalty, will enter into an unholy alliance with the very same people whom the party and indeed the entire country worked hard to replace and sell out the hard won victory” of the party.

“There can be no higher level of treachery, disloyalty and insincerity within any party,” the party said, vowing to resolve the matter using all constitutional and legal means available to it.

Meanwhile, the APC has asked all its loyal Senators-elect to please report to the Senate to be sworn-in in order to discharge their constitutional duties.

  1. Hello Mr Lai Muhammed I can see you are doing your job well, so gifted in propaganda. It was the same treachery, disloyalty and indiscipline your party, APC sold to them to defect from PDP that they have mastered against you. You ain't seen nothing yet - this is just act one, scene one. What goes around comes around! Your propaganda is yielding fruit so enjoy it while it lasts. This development is good for our democracy and it will make for better legislation as party politics is very detrimental at this level. I commend President Buhari for standing on his word to allow the chambers elect their leaders without interference. I believe Mr. President will excel much more than his predecessors if he continues this way. I am happy we are getting it right now

  2. Yes, I will support party constitution and Nigerian constitutional method of removal without bias.
We are beginning to see the ulterior motive of why Bukola Saraki defected from the pdp.
Me think he is likely going to fail.
People should forget the hurried support he is presently receiving.
He wants to truncate the good work of PMB is about to start.
If any body thinks it is a pdp or apc matter the individual should think well and be fast too.
Me think Saraki is power greedy. For sure he would meet his water loo soonest.

    1. TAMBUWAAL was an APC speaker in a PDP controlled house of Rep , so what concern PMB in this case?. The national assembly and not the party has the right to choose who lead them.

    2. It is the right of any legislator to vote & be voted for. APC failed to learn from Tambuwaal and PDP Saga. Attempting to stop any National Legislator from exercising his/her fundamental right is the APC bane. APC should lick its wound and turn away from politic of impunity PDP was accused of - I thought they said change but wish to do the old thing again in the old way. Sariki & Dogara congrats.

  3. The party has no business whatsoever deciding who should be the senate president or speaker. I believe that they should have put their house in order and not try to impose any candidate on the members. In politics, there is bound to be disaffection and the smarter politician would try to carry every one along. The mistake APC has made is biting them in the behind and they are using such derogatory words on their own members, go to show the quality of leadership they have. Well, they tambuwaled pdp, now they have been sarakied.

  4. People seem to forget that majority of APC are "New PDP" it was these PDP defectors that started the idea of forming APC to remove Jonathan. They invited ACN, CPC and ANPP to form the APC. If the PDP defectors leave APC, APC will become the minority party again as they will out number the CPC ANPP and ACN members of the Senate and House of Reps.

  5. Dedevi read and confirm your information before airing it. New pdp never formed APC, but Apc had been on ground before they joined them. We should avoid twisting history in order to gain attention or make a point.
