  1. This nonsense must stop. Nigeria is not Pakistan. There can be no such offense as blasphemy in our law books, talk less of a death sentence for it!

  4. Is the religion in itself not nonsense and blasphemous?

  5. This is one of the reasons those "Sharia" or "Taliban" states in the North will remain backward. We wait to see the role the Federal Government will play in this. My understanding had always been that Sharia courts in Nigeria do not have jurisdiction to sentence anyone to death. Sentencing someone to death because he spoke against a religious leader? Ludicrous!

    1. If you take that position then the Federal Government would not be bothered when Muslims are killing Muslims. But it does not work that way. No responsible government would watch a particular religion or sect in its domain killing one another. I believe the Nigerian constitution, which is above any religious law in the country, reserves death sentence only in the hands of the Federal Government.

    2. Even if they are Muslims, no one has the right to kill them. Why should human beings take it upon themselves to kill others in defence of God or is it a "god" they are defending? Such a god does not deserve the worship of rational beings. Only lunatics can follow such "god". Almighty God, deliver these helpless souls from nihilists. Even animals do not kill their kind the way people do in the name of this Islam? Right thinking Muslims should critically examine the ideology of Islam and take steps to redeem its image as a religion that has the monopoly of violence and terrorism!
