In a surprise development, Governor Shettima has forwarded Hadjiya Kwambura's name to the Borno State House of Assembly.
She will now be screened by the house and if approved by its members, will assume office as the new Borno State education commissioner. Hadjiya Kwambura was the GGSS principal when Boko Haram abducted 234 pupils from the school in April last year in the middle of the night.
Although she was not on campus at the time of the abduction, having travelled to Maiduguri for a medical check-up, Hadjiya Kwambura was informed on the night and informed about the kidnapping. She later went to see President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja to brief him about the abduction, where she held a press briefing with his wife Patience.
It was Hadjiya Kwambura who revealed that the kidnappers were disguised as soldiers and convinced the girls that they came to protect them from Boko Haram insurgents but by the time they discovered that they were not security men, it was too late. ReplyDeleteTo be principal of a school in a place like Chibok - in the immediate vicinity of Boko Haram, and not know that your school is a ready target, and therefore call for adequate security arrangement, is gross incompetence. I am shocked this woman could be considered for an even higher post. Whoever has nominated her must himself be incompetent.

ReplyDeleteOf course she did a hatchet job against the last administration by presenting 12 year old looking girls as having been abducted when about to write waec exams. The truth is gradually coming out . We wait to see the post to be given to oby okwesilieze for her own role.
ReplyDeleteOby had nothing to do with the abduction of those girls. Was she the principal? Oby's role has been in campaigning to bring back the girls. Let's not divert the responsibility from where it truly belongs: The school principal is squarely responsible, and it is scandalous that this same principal is about to be made a commissioner.
DeleteBy the way, we should not dismiss those who suggest that she (the principal) could have been an accomplice in the abduction. Chibok is a predominantly Christian area, and you can see that majority of the abducted girls are Christians (if you saw the published shortly after the incident names). But here we have a Muslim principal. She may not be that bothered afterall! From the way she is dressed in her picture here, I would not want to be at a motor park or the fish market when she is approaching! You just don't know what is underneath that hijab!

Or you think they were conspirators in the abduction? How did they plan it? You think they colluded with the school principal and the state governor? And you think it was all to rubbish the last government? You have a most amazing (il)logic!

DeleteIs this reward for a job well done or what? Why did she travel to Maiduguri on the very night the girls were to be taken? Surely a deliberate move to say she was not in when the incident happened. Damned hypocrites! The journey to meet with Jonathan and wife at Abuja was a mere smokescreen. There must have been something known about the said abduction. Oby Ezekwesili's role will soon be exposed too. There is surely a God in heaven who reveals secrets.
