Governor Amosun orders removal of Jonathan’s portraits from offices

The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, on Wednesday ordered the immediate removal of the leftover of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s portraits still adorning various ministries and agencies of government.

Mr. Amosun gave the directive when he sighted Mr. Jonathan’s portrait in one of the offices at the Ministry of Finance at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, during his visit to a number of offices and Ministries, as part of his familiarization visit to workers.

The governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Yetunde Onanuga, Head of Service, Modupe Adekunle, and number of Permanent Secretaries, could not hide his displeasure when he saw the former president’s portrait still hanging on the wall.

He told the workers to remove the portrait and replace it with the new president, Muhammed Buhari, immediately, making it clear that a new president has been sworn in.

At the Ministry of Environment, the governor tasked them on the need to keep the state clean, with emphasis on Ijebu-Ode town.

On what to expect from his administration during the second term, Mr. Amosun said he would shift focus to the development of the Deep Sea Port, Olokola Free Trade Zone, the Airport Project, completion of the proposed Inter-city and Intra-city rail lines as well as massive development of rural roads across the 236 wards in the State.

While appreciating public servants for their commitment and dedication in the last dispensation, the Governor assured that the new dispensation which would have an APC-led Government at the centre, would evoke a synergy between the Federal Government and the State.
