Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi appoints SSG, media aides

Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has announced the first set of appointments in his administration, with the former permanent secretary in the Office of the Governor, Mr. Gabriel Ajah, named as the Secretary to the State Government.

In the same vein, the South-East Bureau Chief of the New Telegraph Newspaper, Mr. Uwakwe Abugu, was named the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, while the former special assistant to the immediate past governor on party matters, Mr. Louis Amoke, was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity.

Ugwuanyi also announced the appointment of Mr. Sylvanus Onoyima, a former head of service, and equally ex-special adviser to the immediate past governor on SERVICOM, as his Special Adviser on Due Process.

Ugwuanyi, who announced the developments at the Government House, revealed that the list of his prospective commissioners, special advisers and other appointees is ready and awaiting confirmation by the state house of assembly.

The governor directed all heads and chief executives of government establishments, including parastatals, boards, corporations, commissions and agencies, to submit the operational status and financial reports of their activities from 2011 to date, “for more effective administrative purposes.”
He said he was ready to run an “all-inclusive government” by accommodating all former governors of the state and other leaders through the reconstitution of the Elders’ Council.
“The era of politics is over,” he stressed.

Ugwuanyi also explained his decision to appoint some people who had served in government in the past.

According to him, the choice of Ajah as the Secretary to the State Government “was borne out of his longstanding experience in public service as permanent secretary since 2001 till date.
“Such experienced personnel is what this administration requires at the moment to drive its process,” he added.

Ugwuanyi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, congratulated the senator representing Enugu West Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, on his re-election as the Deputy President of the Senate.

According to him, “Ekweremadu’s emergence was an added advantage to the stability of the National Assembly and the advancement of the nation’s democratic process.”
