Dickson Received N440bn With Nothing To Show For It – Oyegun

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, last weekend took a swipe at the Bayelsa State Governor, Hon Seriake Dickson over alleged misuse of funds accrued from the federal government estimated at over N440 billion.

He said that saying that Dickson has done nothing to show for the huge funds he has received so far .

Odigie-Oyegun who was represented by the national vice-chairman, South-South, Mr Hilliard Etaho, at the public declaration and official defection into the APC by some of the loyalists of former President Goodluck Jonathan led by Chief Dikivie Ikhiogha, described as a failure and corrupt, the administration of Governor Seriake Dickson in Bayelsa State.

Odigie-Oyegun noted that the Dickson-led government of Bayelsa State has received over N440 billion from the federal government with nothing to show for it, adding that what was left for the people of the state was to “retire the governor”.

On the rising struggle by various interests within the party for the governorship ticket in the state, Odigie-Oyegun said though the formal declaration by Chief Ikhiogha was not to present governorship ticket to any candidate, “the process of electing a governorship flag bearer for the party would be conducted in a transparent primary election just like the process that produced Muhammad Buhari as the party’s presidential candidate was done.”

On his part, the state chairman of the APC, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe, said the journey to change the present administration in Bayelsa over non-performance has just begun.

He said,” the APC would use the broom to change incompetence that had bedevilled the oil-rich state for so long.”

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s close friend, Chief Diekivie Ikhiogha, who formally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress(APC),said he defected alongside Chief Victor Awala, Mr Paul Ajuwa, Mrs. D. Irene, Mr. Prince Abeki, a former commissioner, as well as over 150 former councillors from 1999 to 2012.

Ikhiogha said the PDP is full of betrayals and deceits, saying, “There is lack of internal democracy and it is a party where the highest bidder always has his ways. As I left the PDP, I went on my private business until I started receiving calls from my supporters and those who believe in me that I should not quit partisan politics. It was then I discovered that I had a family in the APC. I also know that Bayelsa people are yearning for change which the APC represents,”

“All those denied opportunities in the PDP are defecting to the APC with me. There are many of them and the solidarity cuts across other political parties, including the APGA, Accord Party, Labour Party, among others.”

Reacting to the various allegations levelled against his administration by the APC and other defectors to the party, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said the accusations were misplaced, as they were only disguised reasons to justify the actions of the body and the party.
