The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, said on Friday that President Muhammadu Buhari would support his fight against the “massive” corruption that characterised the administration of his predecessor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.
Wike, who spoke after receiving the final report of his administration’s transition committee, said his government remained committed to recovering all funds diverted into private pockets.
He explained that his administration was aware that Amaechi would resort to blackmail and propaganda to divert the public attention.
Wike, however, commended the transition committee for a job well done, saying the committee’s interim report helped his administration to take off.
Submitting the final report of the transition committee, former Deputy Governor, Tele Ikuru, described Amaechi’s administration as the most corrupt in the state’s history.
Ikuru said the former governor spent N812m to furnish his personal residence at the expense of the state, while N4.96bn was spent on Justice Karibi Whyte Hospital with no structure on the ground.
But the former Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Chief Tony Okocha, said Wike and Ikuru were part of Amaechi’s administration and should stop “playing the pot that called kettle black.”
Okocha said as a deputy governor, Ikuru presided over the cabinet meeting for more than 10 times and should also be willing to take responsibility for what he alleged.
“I am shocked that Ikuru, who is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the past administration, could stand up to challenge Amaechi,” he said. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

I don't think Wike wants to govern Rivers state. He should get on with the management of Rivers state and stop the fight against former governor Amechi.
ReplyDeleteOkocha just sharap your mouth. Ikuru is not a fool to steal with Amaechi and then go to the rooftop to claim innocence. Shortly, proofs will surface.
ReplyDeletePlease can some tell Okocha that Tele Ikuru was just a deputy Governor that was not given a say to what is going on in the Government, During Amaechi era, even the chief of staff , which concidentally, Okocha was the man) was more powerful than the deputy Governor, so Okocha should accept the charge and not the deputy Governor, who washed his hands off the atrocities and massive corruption that characterised the era of the Emperor Amaechi.
ReplyDeleteA deputy governor is quoted as saying "my boss misappropriated the states fund" and you guys are there making unreasonable comments. While take it personal? Chibuike Amaechi is corrupt and there is no doubt about it. The question is ' how much of the state fund was diverted to his secret accounts and how is the incumbent governor going to recover part or all of it'?
ReplyDeleteI feel so sorry for the people of rivers state, this is because the present governor is telling many of the fools what they wants to hear.
ReplyDeleteCommon here is a governor biting the fingers that fed him. so soon and very so soon wike forgot how he was chosen to be at aso rock.
Remember, the maximum you can do is to say 8years and you are done. hmm, I just laugh.
You are playing music and the foolish riverrians are dancing cockroach dance that would soon stop when the cockrel appears.
The era of saying forget about the past administration is over. As many that took part in the massive corruption in River state must be brought to book. Period
DeleteIs wike hands clean of corruption? Let's watch out & see how it goes.
ReplyDeleteWike a thief calling a thief, thief. Nollywood Comedians.......cockroach kills the dragon part 1
