Aregbesola slams Murray-Bruce, says he’s turned workers plight to entertainment

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun has faulted Senator Ben Murray-Bruce’s gesture to give half of his wardrobe allowance to unpaid Osun workers, noting that, some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) states are also owing salaries.

In a statement by Semiu Okanlawon, Director Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Office of the Governor, he said why has Murray-Bruce chosen Osun over other states.

“My attention has been drawn to a tweet by a member of Upper chamber of the National Assembly Senator Ben Murray Bruce of the Peoples Democratic Party from Bayelsa saying he will not reject the alleged hefty pay for members of the National Assembly but collect it and donate to Osun workers.

“It is saddening and tragic that Mr. Murray Bruce whom many had accorded a lot of respect is too early in the day joining the fray of politicisation and trivialising the salary issue affecting more than half of the states of the federation in this ridiculous manner.

“While Nigerians are in hot debate over the alleged jumbo pay and the mood of the country Murray Bruce seems to have turned the plight of Nigerian workers to a thing of an entertainment.

“Of all the states in the federation who are battling to pay salaries as a result of the precarious economic situation his party the PDP threw Nigeria into why is it that it is Osun he wants to take his pay to? This is certainly playing to the gallery and nothing but a mockery in the faces of Nigerian workers and not only of Osun extraction. It is not only wicked but ungodly to play politics with the suffering of the people.

“If the Senator’s conscience tells him his pay is too high especially in the face of the prevailing economic predicament of Nigeria the most honourable thing to do is to lead a protest for reduction and not a self serving philanthropy only in the direction of Osun workers,” the statement read.

  1. Mr Bruce is fast becoming a loud mouth putting his boot in his mouth, maybe he should try and reason deeply henceforth before making further utterances.I can see he's trying to build up a profile for himself in order to fight for bigger position politically but he must do that showing his maturity and sound morals ethically not by becoming a nuisance

  2. Mr Governor. Perhaps you should emulate senator Bruce by donating half of your salary and allowances to pay the wages of your workers....or even pay the workers of a PDP state....

  6. Mr. Brucelee wants to start what he cannot continue.
If you fool the Bayelsans, you can't fool Osun people.
Please give the money to the needy in Bayelsan. Check the population of Bayelsa and Osun visa-vis the the difference in number and compare how much each of the two states get in terms of allocation, you dicvered that Bayelsa with less population get more than Osun.
Osun has more people living well more than Bayelsa people so what is the rationale of your donating wardrope allowance to Osun.
You better keep it to your self.
Bayelsa people voted for you to serve them, and not to serve Osun.
Why are you crying more than the bereaved.
At the appointed time the south west people know how to help themselves out.
Don't look for cheap political appendages.
Imagine the first assistance you are about to give it is to Osun.
We know your target, you need the support of the west to make up for you future political score point. No, you missed it. By the way your indigene issues is not over even in the mouth of a vast majority of Bayelsa. We all know what transpired during the last ellections.
    Stop scheming.

  7. But I slam you for using your state allocation for Electioneering campaign during the last election. So, you have been owing 7 months salaries and the people voted for you again. Then, why are people complaining? And why are you Ogbeni crucifying Bruce for doing charity work.
