The Ramadan period is a very dedicated period of sober reflection and Self-preservation, they are created for one to take time out and purify themselves by the act of fasting, sober reflecting, self-purity, alms giving and getting closer to God.

There is a stipulated number of days that the Islams are expected to fast and pray fervently and to stay away from things that will cause them to sin or lure them into Sin, within this period one id expected to do an inner reflection of their lifestyle and consider if it is beneficial to their Lives as well as they conclude the fasting and sober reflection comes to an end, at this point there is a celebration that follows suit and this is where the exchange of gifts comes in handy.

It is a month of giving, to uphold the major pillars of Islam such as observing Solat Regularly, Being steadfast in Prayers, Giving Gifts in addition to the fasting itself.
