We shall obey court order on Kashamu – NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has expressed its readiness to obey the court judgement, which ordered its operatives to vacate the Lagos residence of Senator-elect for Ogun East Senatorial district, Mr. Buruji Kashamu, in Lekki.

The agency said this in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Mitchell Ofoyeju, on Wednesday.

It, however, failed to specify when its operatives would leave.

The NDLEA had on Tuesday said it was not in possession of any court order to leave the Kashamu’s residence hours after it was pronounced by Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos.

The statement read, “NDLEA will obey the decision of the court of competent jurisdiction on the ongoing case involving Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu. As a government agency and a law enforcement institution that has respect for the rule of law, the NDLEA will abide by the decisions of a competent court.

“This is a legal issue and the agency has windows of opportunities to explore legally in advancing its cause. NDLEA will not violate court orders or take the law into its hands in enforcing its statutory responsibilities.”
