Kaduna State governor-elect, Mallam Nasir El Rufai Tuesday vowed that once he assumed office next Friday, every person that stole Kaduna State money must return the loot or would be made to face “impolite” consequences.
El Rufai of tthe All Progressive Change, APC, also said that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has almost taken Kaduna State to the grave.
The governor-elect who spoke in Kaduna while receiving the report of the APC Kaduna State Transition Committee, lamented what he said was the decay his incomimg government was going to enherit, and promised to do his best to turn the situation around.
He said: “I have said this before and I am going to say it again. No one who stole Kaduna State money will go free. We shall politely ask the person return the money within a time frame. If he refuses, then we shall take actions against that person that are not polite. Nobody has a right to steal and go scot free. We shall ensure that we get back our stolen money. Some people say, ‘lets forgert what has happened. That was the past’. I want to disagree with such thinking. As far as we are concern on stolen money, the past is the future.
“We are inheriting a lot of rot. And today, it has been established that if you don’t work well, after four years, the people will vote you out. I have told my colleagues that we don’t have any choice than to work to the satisfaction of the electorates”
Speaking further El Rufai said: “The PDP in the state has almost taken Kaduna State to the grave. Thank God for our timely arrival. The task ahead of us is enormous, and I want to thank the members of the Transition Committee for the great job they have done, and for free. This is the kind of sacrifice we expect. And, believe me, we are going to call a few of you again and entrust them with more responsibilities as we form our government”, he said.
Speaking before El Rufai’s speech, the Chairman of the Committee, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, said that the report was made up of 18 chapters that dealt with different sectors of Kaduna State administration.
He said: “This report provides the incomimng administration with information needed to make strategic policy, budgetary, and personnel decisions prior to the inauguration of the new government”, he said. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
