Stop giving excuses, fulfil your promises - Lamido tells Buhari

The Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, have told the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to stop giving excuses but to prepare to fulfill his promises to Nigerians.

The governor, who spoke on Thursday at the inauguration of the ultra modern Shiroro Bridge, said Nigerians would hold him and the All Progressives Congress responsible for the situation of the country, regardless of the state of the economy.

Lamido said, “You must fulfill your promises, because there was no condition given on how to do it. Whether the economy is favourable or not, do not give us any excuse.

“We will not tolerate any excuses because when you were asking for votes and making promises, there were no conditions given.

“A party of evil men is a party that raised them. Whatever they are, they owe it all to the PDP(Peoples Democratic Party) because PDP, one way or the other, brought almost all of them into politics. It is about time for them to reflect, because Nigerians will definitely hold them accountable.

“They try to turn tribe against tribe, brother against brother. They try to break and distort Nigeria’s harmony, raising false hope. They must fulfill all their promises.”

Lamido added that throughout the APC’s campaign, they never raised any developmental issues but were busy harping on the dysfunctionalities of the nation, which include Boko Haram, corruption and unemployment.

Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, who hosted Lamido, joined the Jigawa State governor to berate the Adamu Mu’azu-led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, saying Mu’azu must resign and accept responsibility for leading the party to what they described as a “disastrous defeat” in the general elections.

Aliyu said, “How could you lead a party to a disastrous defeat and you are still thinking of some ideas. And it is now you, asking people or blaming people that you have not been given a chance and that the money of the campaign was not with you.

“Why didn’t you tell us before the elections? Why do you have to wait until you are defeated? Because you assume that if we had won, you would have taken the credit for the win. So, take the blame for the loss. That’s all we are saying.

“If it is the party’s belief that the leadership be retained, believe me, we will not fight it because the actual change will come in March 2016. That is when we will go to the convention and all PDP members will be there and we will elect new leaders. So, it is even better.”

Speaking on the call for Mu’azu to resign, Lamido said, “It is not time for blame game. It is time to think and reflect on how to reposition the PDP. The party is a party of national interest and unity. We should all accept that we made mistakes and find ways to correct it in the future.”

On the alleged plan to form a new party, the Jigawa State governor, who was the special guest of honour at the bridge inauguration said the two governors would not leave the PDP.

He added, “We have both agreed not to leave the PDP. We dey kampe for PDP, we dey shelenk for PDP.

“PDP has honoured and dignified me, and I am not leaving it for tenants. I and Aliyu are from home background while others are from mere house background. We are well groomed right from our homes and we will not leave the party for anyone.”

Aliyu said, “Sule Lamido, you are not creating any new party. You and your godson will remain in the PDP forever. Whoever planted that story has made a mistake because for us, we have every opportunity to have decamped or defected but we did not because we know in political development, particularly in democracy, defection is not the best way to development and entrench democracy in any society.

“You must not be the type of people who think they must always be on the winning side. For us, time to time, you will need to learn some lessons. And the defeat of PDP should be seen as a lesson.”

  3. Lamido I love u for telling APC nd Buhari d stark truth. They should stop inventing excuses but should invent solutions to our security, power, refineries nd corruption. The things PDP couldn't do for us, they should be ready to deliver on those promises, otherwise they should start parking their loads come 2019 coz I must vote against them. If they do well, may their days be long in power. If they flop, let them give US back our mandate

  4. There is no need to be sentimental about the departure of PDP. Jonathan failed woefully. Until Buhari is sworn in on May 29, it will be unreasonable to hold him accountable for anything.

PDP destroyed Nigeria and it will take more than a few days to rebuild it. People must be patient.

  6. Putting them in jail will not solve any problem rather it will waste our money by feeding, housing and clothing them. All the money they stole must be returned to the last kobo together with the interest on it. If any one of them cannot refund the money, GMB and Nigerians should make them to pay back with hard labour. Anyone who embezzle the money meant for road should be put on the road well equipped with shovel and diggers with MOPOL supervising them day and night. If it is money meant for water, let us put them on the streets to fetch water for the house where they need water 24/7 under the supervision of heartless slave drivers to work for the repayment throughout the rest of their lives.

  9. It is easier to destroy than rebuild ask the civil engineers. To undo the past woes, honestly, will take some years. Lots of wastages and corruption everywhere. How we need to support and pray for the coming government to be resolute, focused and willing to work for the benefit of the masses! I can foresee a lot of hijackers on the way of good intention of GMB.

  10. I think this thing is simple. Somebody said, if you vote me, I will do this. Now you were voted, why not go ahead and do what you said you will do? Why tell us why you can't do it, meanwhile you knew all those things before you made your promises. Jonathan wasn't the first president of Nigeria, so if he must be blamed for any failure, any other person going there should also be ready to be blamed not to give excuse why he shouldn't be blamed if he fails...meaning that he is already planning to fail even before starting!
