Ndigbo won’t beg Buhari for appointments - Ohanaeze

Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Thursday said the Igbo would not beg the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, for appointments.

It said issues of appointments were constitutional obligations that every President of Nigeria, irrespective of the voting pattern of a people in an election, must comply with.

It condemned the move by certain people, who claimed to be representing the Igbo, who allegedly went to Buhari to beg for appointments for Ndigbo in his government.

The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Anambra State, Dr. Chris Eluomunoh, who spoke as the chairman of state presidents’ forum of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, comprising seven Igbo speaking states, stated this at a press conference in Awka, Anambra State.

He said the Igbo nation was an integral part of Nigeria and must get their due share in the country as a matter of right.

Eluemunoh maintained that the Igbo had no regrets voting for President Goodluck Jonathan in the just concluded general elections, stressing that the circumstance of the time made the voting pattern necessary.
“We didn’t vote for Jonathan because we didn’t like Buhari. The circumstance of the moment made our voting proper, and we don’t regret it.
“Nobody can intimidate the Igbo because of the way we voted in that election; neither shall we beg anybody for appointments because we didn’t vote for him.

“Every zoning arrangement for appointments in this country must include the Igbo. So those who called themselves Ohanaeze elders, who went to beg for appointments for Ndigbo, were on their own. They are not speaking for us.

“Ohanaeze is not partisan. At the appropriate time, we shall meet with the President-elect to chart a course for the country.”

  1. If you want to beg, go and beg if not keep quiet. Did Buhari say he will not give ibos appointment in his coming government. Concerning the voting pattern you mentioned, you guys voted for the fool who will not sanction your shady business deals ranging from importation of fake products into the country to kidnapping and greed. Lastly, you guys as well as other tribes in Nigeria lack discipline and you dislike whoever will instill discipline in you.

  2. My friend I share the same view with you, well spoken. The same ego that has not work for Indigbo development since the civil war, you better retrace your way and move with time otherwise your people will continue to be in the past with usual hatred, greed and selfish nature. I fear for your incoming generation, you are a bad precedence to the upcoming leaders of tomorrow. Wake up indigbo!!!
Change is inevitable, Nigeria has voted for change and change has come to stay, so you better change your ways for the benefit of your generation unborn.

    1. Is in the blood! Look at your choice of word. Still exhibiting what you know how to do best. If Nigeria should divide today there is no group/region that will not suffer the brunt. However looking at indigbo investment all over Nigeria it means bulk of your people will starve to death because going back to your under develop root will means hell to you, Idiot.

  5. I STILL CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY AT THIS POINT MANY OF THE SO CALLED OTHER TRIBES IN NIGERIA STILL HATE THE IGBOS.IF YOU PEOPLE DON'T LIKE US THEN WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE ALLOW US TO BE ON OUR OWN,THEN WE SHALL SEE WHO WILL SUFFER.I READ WHAT SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI WROTE FEW DAYS AGO WHICH WAS A REAL TRUE STORY.APART FROM TRYING TO CEDE AWAY,WHICH RESULTED TO THE CIVIL WAR,THE IGBOS HARDLY LOOK FOR ANY ONES' TROUBLE YET PEOPLE STILL DISLIKE US THIS MUCH.IF WE CAN'T CO-EXIST I THINK IT WILL BE BETTER FOR US TO PARTIALLY LIVE APART IN PEACE THAN TO PERISH TOGETHER IN UNITY.WE ARE STILL PART AND PARCEL OF OUR BELOVED NIGERIA BUT IF OTHERS DON'T WANT US WE CAN PROUDLY BE ON OUR OWN.MAY GOD BLESS NIGERIA !MAY THE OVER LORD SHOW US HOW TO LOVE OURSELVES.

  6. You bokos that eat human flesh like pepper soup just because of 70 virgins that will be given to you in hell fire. Will you keep quiet. If you love this country, I hope that Buhari will relinquish power to whoever wins come 2019 just as GEJ did peacefully. You know that the Igbos are not carnivores like you people, they have respect for human lives. You people are the most selfish, envious and laziest individuals I have ever seen, trying to reap where you did not sow, causing havoc and commotion here and they so that Igbos will flee and you secure the opportunity to steal and covet their property that they acquired out of their sweat and restless struggles and in the end you say we are one Nigeria. Please, bear in mind that we are not one. Let us say the truth. Igbos are peaceful people that show hospitality to every tribe that lives with them. In fact, why can't other tribes leave Igbos alone to exist as a country of their own to avoid being wasted by those babarians that worth nothing.
