President Goodluck Jonathan has signed two bills – Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) bill 2015 and the Immigration bill 2015, into law.
The two bills had earlier been passed by the National Assembly.
With the assent of the President, the two bills have now become Acts.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, confirmed the assent to the bills to State House correspondents, on Monday.
The Senate passed the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) bill 2015 on May 4.
The Act seeks to prohibit female circumcision or genital mutilation, forceful ejection from home and harmful widowhood practices.
