President Goodluck Jonathan has signed the Administration of Criminal Justice Bill 2015 into law.
The bill, which was passed by the Senate on May 5, seeks to, among others things, address the problem of delayed criminal trials.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, confirmed in an interview with journalists on Thursday that Jonathan had signed the bill into law.
Abati said the President signed the document on Wednesday, the same day he received the bill from the National Assembly.
“The President has signed the Administration of Criminal Justice Bill 2015. He signed it the same day he received it from the National Assembly. With that development, the bill is now an Act,” he said. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

ReplyDeleteLaws in Nigeria should progress beyond signature. If our government do not enforce the law, it will be useless and a waste of resources. Criminals should be prosecuted but they move around causing more crime with impunity.
ReplyDeleteWhat use is a law that will never be enforced?
Our pipeline are being vandalized and nobody is prosecuted and reported in the media. That is giving the criminals license to continue their illegal act.
Do not just sign the law into existence in paper, enforce the law and put criminals in prison. That will serve as deterrent and stop other attempt.
@ least he signed the law now. It's left for buhari to implement as you gus think he has no good intention for Nigeria
