Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi said he knew he would have been in trouble and have been hounded out of the country if APC hadn’t won the presidential election.
Amaechi made the statement in Lagos, yesterday, during the public presentation of a book titled “Dynamics of Change: The Amaechi Years” which is the compilation of his achievements a governor.
“I knew I was going to be in trouble. Anything that would cause that change not to take place, I was ready to make that sacrifice. The federal government sent out a signal that if they won nobody should let me out of Nigeria from any airport.
One day Asiwaju got angry with me. He was very angry. I went to his house with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and knelt down, saying ‘please let’s not disagree, let’s win first and then we can disagree.
“I told Asiwaju that what is important is to make a history of the first civilian coup in Nigeria when your children and grandchildren read the history with your name as one of the people who helped bring about change in Nigeria.
I said, let us focus on the victory. I remember the day of the convention, there were so many intrigues, there will be convention, there won’t be convention, I said my leader, if we don’t do the convention we are finished, the press will say APC cannot hold a convention, lead us now, there must be convention and election. So, he turned to me and said look for Tunde (Fashola), let us go.” He said. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Deleteshut up your mouth... so you remember when amaechi rejected buhari because jonadaft, he gave jonadaft 3.8millon votes in rivers state in 2011, what did get, a mere woman to snach mic from his hand in public... Mbu to come and harase his life as an elected governor... Let him try Buhari since his brother failed him.
DeleteAnonymous 3:00pm, I wish to commend you for being truthful. Patience and Jonathan were never wrong, it was Amechi who had been wrong all the time. This is simply politics, no permanent enemy, no permanent friend. Only and only interest is permanent. As far as I am concerned, Amechi did very very well. If he had allowed Jonathan and his Shepoppotamus wife to swallow Amaechi, then he would have been a good man. Amaechi is a hero and a king maker.
DeleteFailures always cry fowl always. Amaechi hero of our time in naija delta
DeleteAmaechi is one of the BRAVEST men I've seen -he believed in change all you losers attacking him go and do something with your miserable lives. Go and achieve something.
ReplyDeleteWe need brave men like Amaechi in this country. nobody wan die-everybody wan go heaven. He is a man that do not turns back when the battle is fiercest.
ReplyDeleteWell said!
ReplyDeleteThe APC victory is for Amechi bcs e fought Jonathan to a standstill and was able to defeat him. Amechi's reason for not supporting Jonathan is right. Has Jonathan been able to point any project he dd in Rivers. Jonathan himself admitted that he failed in this regard.
