Ekiti State Security Council has proposed to ban the use of tinted glass and also warned landlords and hoteliers to know the kind of people they offer accommodation.
Rising from an emergency meeting held in Ado Ekiti, following the killing of two and abduction of five people in the state in the last one week, the council said laws would soon be enacted to deal with criminals and their accomplices.
According to a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ayodele Fayose, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the council said security measures would be taken to protect lives and property.
It appealed to the people of the state to cooperate with the government and security agencies, saying there would be strict security measures and check points in strategic places across the state.
The council resolved that usage of tinted glasses would be prohibited, while there would be frequent hotel checks, with a call to hoteliers to monitor their customers and offer information to security agents on any suspected person, saying any hotel linked to criminals would be sealed.
It also concluded that plantations of cannabis would also be destroyed, forthwith, while culprits would be prosecuted.
The Council also resolved that the state would not condone any invasion of foreign bodies or security threat before and after the May 29 hand over date, advising those muting the idea to drop it in their own interest.
The council praised security agencies in the state over their efforts to ensure there is peace in the state, appealing to religious leaders, traditional rulers, labour leaders and other stakeholders to continue to cooperate with the government and security personnel to provide adequate security in the state.

These Ekiti legislators show impulsive and irrational thinking by proposing to ban tinted glasses - presumably on motor vehicles. So, what happens when a car with factory-tinted glasses, registered in Lagos crosses the state? Would they impound the car? The only way you can ban factory-tinted glasses is to push for its ban at Federal level. That would mean no vehicle with tinted glasses would be custom-cleared.
