Chief Imam Of Abuja Buried Amid Tears



The late Chief Imam of Abuja National Mosque, Musa Muhammad, was on Sunday buried at the Gudu Cemetery amid tears and prayers from families and well wishers.

The burial, which was conducted under tight security, was attended by the Kano State governor-elect, Umar Ganduje.



Other dignitaries included the Abuja Minister, Bala Mohammed; former deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu; ex-governor Adamu Aleiro, and Senator Ali Ndume.

Fielding questions from journalists after the burial, Mr. Mantu expressed shock over the incident.
“When I got the news yesterday, I was shocked but I know that life was in the hands of God and Allah can take one’s at anytime He so wish because He is the custodian of life,” he said.

Also speaking, the Chief Imam of Al-Habibiya Mosque, Imam Abdulganiu, said that the deceased was a detribalised Nigerian who worked tirelessly to ensure unity among the Muslim community.
Mr. Abdulganiu prayed Almighty Allah to grant the deceased paradise and give the family the fortitude to bear the lost.

On his part, the Deputy Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Ahmad Onilewura, prayed Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus.

Musa Babangida, the eldest son of the deceased, declined comments.

Vice President Namadi Sambo; former secretary to the government of the federation, Yayale Ahmed; INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega, and the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, were some of the personalities that attended the funeral prayers offered for the deceased at the National Mosque.
