APC should be worried over Buhari’s nervousness and inconsistencies — PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has denied the claims by the All Progressives Congress that the pdp has refused to co-operate to ensure a smooth transition from one administration to the other.

The APC had made the accusation through its spokesperson, Lai Mohammed, on Thursday.

“As we write, the transition committee of the FG has yet to hold a single meeting with our own transition committee, neither have they given us a line of handover note,” Mr. Mohammed said.

Reacting on Friday, the PDP spokesperson, Olisah Metuh, said the APC’s claim was as “unnecessary and diversionary” as it was “false and tendentious.”

Mr. Metuh stated that the meetings of the transition and inauguration committees of both parties have been going on fruitfully and wondered where the “false alarm” was coming from, “if not a measure of confusion in the APC camp”.

“We can confirm that the APC Transition Committee led by Mallam Ahmed Joda has met at least twice with the Presidency team led by Vice President Namadi Sambo while the Timipre Sylva-led APC Inauguration Committee has been meeting almost on daily basis with the PDP team led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim,” Mr. Metuh said.

“It is therefore most uncharitable for the APC to attempt to mislead the people by claiming that the PDP-led Presidency was not cooperating in the process.

“Although the ruling party suffered some electoral setback, Nigerians are witness to the fact that the PDP has remained humble in defeat while focusing on rebuilding and reinventing itself. Such should not in any way warrant the unnecessary attacks, vituperations and insults from the APC.”

He added that the PDP is at the moment committed to a process of rebuilding and reinventing itself, following its dismal performance in the last elections.

The APC must therefore learn to be decent and cease to be arrogant as that would amount to taking the goodwill of the people for granted, he said.

Mr. Metuh said the incoming APC Government of Muhammadu Buhari should be more concerned about “negative signals and the rising worries by Nigerians over its flip-flops and apparent nervousness of its President-elect who has started reneging on his campaign promises”.

He said, “Nigerians were bewildered when they heard General Buhari renege on his messianic posture and told them in clear terms not to expect him to rapidly fix the problems of the nation as he had promised during the campaign.

“The same President-elect who boldly stated in his campaign manifesto that ‘I, Muhammadu Buhari have resolved that the task ahead of me is that of securing our nation and prospering our people, not looking backward to the failed policies and promises’ had on May 5, 2015 in a meeting with APC governor-elects reneged and announced that he has “started nervously to explain to people that Rome was not built in a day.

“Furthermore while the APC in a statement on April 3, 2015 denied that the President-elect pledged to end insurgency in two months of being sworn in, the video clip of his interview with Christiane Amanpour on CNN on April 2, 2015 is clear on the promise made by Buhari.

“Nigerians are not in a hurry to forget that the APC promised to rapidly fix the economy, generate, transmit and distribute electricity on a 24/7 basis, pay N5,000 monthly to 25 million poor Nigerians; provide allowances to the discharged but unemployed Youth Corps members for Twelve (12) months, create additional 4 million new homes, provide free education and meals for school children and bring naira to the same value with the dollar.”

Noting that Nigerians would not accept failure from the APC, Mr. Metuh insisted PDP advanced Nigeria’s democracy to a globally acknowledged level.

“It would even do more by offering the most constructive and credible opposition as it repositions to regain power in 2019,” he said.

  3. This is what we expect the reconstituted pdp to do. It should be on the watch of apc. Opposition doesn't start nd end with campaigns. How to guide Nigerians on their votings by 2019 starts now. The persons/parties to win start now. Every unkept promises, deceit, misrule, impunity, nd corruption should be documented nd be used against any party/person in d nearest future. This is d only means thru which political parties cud be got to deliver their bests to the Nigerian nation. Without virile opposition, 4yrs will be past without any addition to d common good of d people.

  4. Assuming the present ruling party and those past did not continually share the proceeds from oil and assuming they diversified the economy then maybe it would have been easier for GMB...in anycase I'm definitely sure fighting corruption will help raise money that he is going to start working with. So tall should get ready as he recovers the stolen funds from you corrupt politicians.

  5. PDP haven't learnt a lesson with their defeat at the polls. They have started with lies and half-truths that cost them the elections. What is wrong in GMB saying that he is not a magician and he will need time to fix the problems of sixteen good years brought on us by PDP? Are there any Nigerians in their right senses who think those problems can be solved in six months?

Another lie is that of ending the insurgency in two months as what GMB said was "few months" and not two months. The video is on the internet for any sincere person to listen to.
And what is wrong in Buhari saying that he feels nervous because of high expectations by Nigerians?

PDP is a shameless party indeed!

    1. Sixteen years of backwardness...instead of being repentant and looking for how to help apc fix the problems they artfully created, problems that are threatening to swallow us all: scarcity, poor power supply..all they are interested in is to return and create more havoc. Selfish shameless twats.

  6. Making promises without fulfilling any is not new in our political history. Someone, once promised that he will fix the power issue within 4 years and should he failed to do it within that period he cannot do it in 100 years. Where is the light now? Your guess is as good as mine. I have commented on this platform that the electoral process is gradually taken shape and we the electorates will continue to decide who govern us and not other way round. GMB should live up to our expectation and enjoy our support. Anything short of that is unacceptable.

    1. Bashir, please tell pdp to shut their mouth before we shut it for them ,the damage they did for sixteen years need more years to fix, knowing that it is easier to damage than to repair... Look what they did to humans in the north east... I would rather prefer another party being the opposition than the pdp

  7. PDP is a disappointment. They should keep quiet. They have ruined the economy by sharing our money. Buhari should get our money from them. It is in their individual pockets. All of them should be probed. They became POWER TO THE PARTY AND NOT POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

  8. I don't have much to say,the kick off date is just around the corner. May 29 is exactly 17days from now and we'll have enough of observations to make.
As for Lie Mohammed, when he was born,he was given the name 'Lie',how do expect him not to live up to his name?
