John Oyegun, the national chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), said on Saturday that the gale of defections by politicians was not good for Nigeria’s political development.
Mr. Oyegun, who spoke to newsmen in Benin shortly after casting his vote, advised those defecting to the winning party to rather form a formidable opposition to enrich the nation’s democracy.
“Many opposition party members have defected to APC just because they lost out, that is not good for political development.
“One would have advised that opposition members should stay where they are, and form a formidable opposition party.” Mr. Oyegun said.
He described the governorship and houses of assembly elections as “the most decent, orderly and peaceful” ever conducted in Edo.
Meanwhile, the APC national chairman won the election in his polling unit. Oredo East: Ward 2, Unit 1 Polling Unit, the first time since 1991 when he was elected governor.

Oyegun u can now tell ppl to stop defecting....eyaaaa levels don change for you.God dey.
ReplyDeleteAPC now know it is good to defect. When 5 Governors defected, u didn't say they should not defect, they should stay in their party. When Baba Iyabo join u in style, u didn't say that. Now it is time to choose Senate President, Speaker, and share portfolio, u say they should not defect that it is not good. If those that join u from PDP did not join u, would u have won?
ReplyDeleteWe don close defection. People wey no follow fight, should sit down 👇 where they dey.
Delete@ AnonymousApril 12, 2015 at 1:29 AM that is good for them bcz APC have finished with them even last week before governorship election people are still jumping from PDP to APC without any problems but now all d election is over dat is y APC now see them as nothing
ReplyDeleteThe people defecting now are just political prostitute,it's all because they see that Apc is the ruling party now, everybody are moving there why the people didn't move before the presidential elections?everyone should stay where ever they are to form a formidable opposition that will make the game interesting.
ReplyDeletePolitical doors have closed, pls leave APC alone looters .Go and develop ur party so u can challenge us if we do something wrong.that is how Nigeria can move forward
ReplyDeleteIf I can recall rightly, oyegun was in PDP, elected as governor but today he is the national chairman of APC, how did he get there? . By defection!. So why did you not stay in your party and yet defected to APC?. This clearly is a demonstration of your selfish interest in the national patrimony. Without defection by PDP members, just like you, you would not have not been a ruling party chairman. You just want a way of dumping others who made it possible to win the race selfish nigerian
ReplyDeleteJumpology should stop now till further notice. People put their life online to ensure that APC make it. Now that it has materialized, the fare weather members are rushing there. No shame at all.
