Let us push APC into Atlantic Ocean - Agbaje tells Igbo

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has urged Igbo across the state to push the All Progressives Congress ‘into the lagoon’ by voting for him on Saturday.

Agbaje said this while addressing Igbo traders at the Alaba International Market on Thursday.

The PDP candidate urged them to ignore the threats made by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, that if they do not vote for the APC governorship candidate on Saturday, they would die in the lagoon.

“Nobody can push you into the Atlantic Ocean. Rather, you should use your votes to push the APC into the Atlantic Ocean by voting massively for the PDP on Saturday,” Agbaje said.

He urged the people to ignore the scare tactics being marshalled by the APC, saying, it was the antics of a drowning party.

Agbaje said, “Election is like a snake. You have to make sure you win by killing the snake completely by using your votes to drive the APC out of power. The reason why they are harassing you is because they fear Igbo votes. They will try to do ‘shakara’ for you but you must vote massively for the PDP and protect your votes.”

Agbaje, who was accompanied by his running mate, Alhaja Safuratu Abdulkarim; and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, said the APC had become arrogant because the party had been in power for too long.

He said, “In the last 16 years, the APC has been full of arrogance. This arrogance must end once and for all. Saturday is the time to say enough is enough.”

Counselling the audience to eschew violence and refuse to be intimidated at the polling venue, Agbaje urged them to guard their votes.

He said, “God is on our side and power will change hands on Saturday and life will be better for you and your businesses. There will be no oppression again because this election is about freedom from bondage.”

  2. Jimi, it's now Ibo versus Yoruba. Encouraging division among ethnic groups at this point in our history is the worst thing a man aspiring to lead us could do. For this singular reason, you have lost my trust and my vote.

    1. Once upon a time there lives a Fool called El-Matosky! Read your comment once again and feel the emptiness in it. Anyways you have always reasoned upside down and i don't think any good thing can proceed from your brain. How can you be advocating for illegitimate Business in the Lagos of today? I'm sure your father never passed on  any good virtue to you so you also amount to a mistakened pregnancy.

    3. This chap EL-Katosky or rather EL-MATORIOUS as the clown calls himself. I am rather disappointed that someone who claims to be a Graduate with a Masters in Computer Science still behaves as one who's grey matter has decomposed completely and chooses to talk from the end of his body meant for passing faeces and flatulence instead. this Lad has chosen to exhibit an uncanny disposition of deliberate irrational argument very unbecoming of anyone who had passed through the academic realm of any university. He can continue to deceive himself regarding his true identity and location but very soon he will be exposed. His leanings to the use of gutter language at the slightest opportunity reveals true background. I have interacted with countless Umu Nna who are very polite, courteous, and comport themselves with panache and not this cheap, mannerless and uncut "John Doe" who jumps at the slightest opportunity to the whole world that he is still fighting an uncompleted ethnic war against all other tribes in the country. Be warned EL-MATORIOUS.

  4. Mr Jim Agbaje, you have allowed your ambition and emotion taken the better part of you. There's no better way to loose the votes of a people than what you have purported. Drawing a line between different ethnicity is just orchestrating your own downfall. Your counterpart in APC is singing a song of reconciliation by pacifying the Igbo and telling them Nigerians are one, you are busy telling them they should push the rival party into the Lagoon. What is the fundamental difference between you and your Monarch? I'm not surprised though, he said you're his blood relative. Hate campaign don't do a politician any good, if such a one wins; find out it must have been my rigging. Don't be surprised if you loose this election it would not have been because you're not qualified but cos you lack wisdom and tactics of a seasoned politician. Obanikoro has played this type of politics and have always lost, now he had no political relevance any longer; two months max and I expect him to resign he will be a coward if he waits for change of cabinet by the new president. We need unity in Lagos and not inciting one tribe against the other. The lagos state government that I know has been fair to all.

    1. The ethnic card was a major point that sank Pdp at the federal level. Jimi Agbaje just lost his relevance finally, after this election, his political career is dead and buried. He clearly forgot that he remains a yoruba man afteral and the Ibos he is banking on will abandon him. Let us see if the Igbo votes will help him. He just lost it totally.

    2. @Damilola. I am totally impressed with your comments because i'd have penned the same words. #ObaAkiolu was wronged to have made those remarks & we've bashed him for that. However, while #AkinwumiAmbode has gone out to dissociate himself from the "die in lagoon threats", Agbaje has put it upon himself to tow the same path by causing further vision.(pitching igbos versus yoruba's) & this isn't the best tactic a politician could deploy in winning an election.
We all know that Lagos hasn't attained it's full potentials & by extension, bringing something new to the table via a well articulated manifesto that will deal squarely with issues should have been the thrust of JK's campaign not this "ethnic joker" being played.
Well, tomorrow, the electorates (both Igbo, yoruba, hausa, ibibio, fulani, tiv, idoma & all other respected ethnic tribes residing in Lagos) will troop out to decide who leads them over the next 4/8 years as the case may be. Let the man with the best credentials & ability to move Lagos to greater heights win.
      Eko o ni baje!!!!!!!

  5. Damilola ode wumi you amazed me by your comment. God bless you Nigeria will flourish again in my life time. He will flush out politicians like fayose Jimi and oba akiolu

  6. Jimi is right. Why should Oba say such a provocative utterance against the Igbo's. Yoruba's are always turning things upside down. Always always a betrayal because it runs in their blood. Neither Jim nor Agbaje is from Igbo land, so why should Oba curse andtthreaten us over Yoruba politics. Your hatred cannot draw us back. God has blessed our business already whether we are doing it in Lagos or not. If you like throw us inside the Lagoon, we will close the Lagoon and start trading there. Try us

  7. Agbaje, you have forgotten that it is not only the igbos that will vote in Lagos and you are buzy fanning the ember of hatred. Behind your gentle look a lot of deceit are hidden. Lagosians should watch people like you very well or else they may live to regret it. God already know who will be the governor. Remember one cannot add a cubit to his life and you will never be what you are not destined to be. Pronto. Tomorrow will surely gives smile.

  15. Change, change, change is what people are clamouring for. But wait a minute must we effect change where the change will not benefit you in the long run. Every electorate should pause and think before making that decision tomorrow. Not all that glitters are gold. Please vote rightly not with sentiment of this one say this or that. God go deliver us. Amen
