Folks, let us make no mistake about this, there MUST be
continuity in Lagos State. And here are my reasons for saying so.
The state has witnessed tremendous growth in many areas in
the last sixteen years, people who LIVE in Lagos will confirm this. There have
been great strides in providing infrastructure amidst an ever increasing
population and exploding demand on public services. We have seen a government
driven by a quest for good governance, an inclusive team and a commitment to
excellence. APC has in Lagos a state that has pioneered IGR that remains a
model for many states in Nigeria and many countries in Africa. It remains an
incubator for leaders and ideas that spread to other parts of Nigeria. So my
people, if it ain’t broke, why fix it?
Yes, there is much more that could be done but changing a
winning formula for an untested one doesn't make governance a positive engine
of growth. We all know how much more Lagos State could have achieved but for
the obstruction placed by the PDP federal government. A good example is the
power projects, majority of Lagos homes would have had good regular electricity
a long time ago if the PDP federal government had allowed Lagos state to
implement its power programme. The PDP federal govt has for years frustrated
Lagos’s development plans.
I am yet to see or hear anything from Jimi Agbaje that beats
the APC’s master plan for Lagos other than populist ideas like scrapping the
tolls and LASMA. Many people say he is a nice guy but he appears to me a man of
telegenic appeal but little substance. PDP as a party has no precedence of
performance or innovative ideas that suggests they have something that could
surprise us positively. On a merit and competency comparison basis, Ambode
beats Agbaje hands down. Ambode came from a humble background and rose to top
level of his career whilst Agbaje’s record appears devoid of any tangible
achievement or stint in public service. Besides, I am yet to see any concrete
plans or policies from Agbaje that beats what Ambode stands for.
Lets call a spade a spade, the driving force behind Agbaje is
really the anti-Tinubu gospel but Iet us be mindful of the saying that
"don't cut your nose to spite your face".....he has done more good
than harm. Despite what people are led to believe, Tinubu has done more for
democracy than all politicians gunning for him combined together has done. But
for him, Nigeria will be a one party state today. At the height of PDP’s
intimidation with federal might, he stood rock solid in insisting on true
federalism, in the process strengthening our democracy.
The risk of simply playing along with a party bearing Greek
gifts is too much. A retreat from the centre to Lagos will simply mean an
alternative wallet for PDP. The rot in PDP is simply too much for them to be
trusted with Lagos State. This rot starts from the top and goes all the way
through the body of the party. Let them fix this rot first before seeking our
mandate.
Let’s call a spade a spade - the bitter, old and spent
political opportunists are simply looking to camp their tents in Lagos State
for the next four years. For the first time in recent times, we have an
opportunity with APC in government at the centre and this promises to be Lagos
State’s finest hour. All the special privileges which the state deserves but
which it has been denied would now be easy to obtain. To change the ruling
party in the state at the threshold of great opportunity would only serve to
make the state’s governance dysfunctional and mediocre.
Four more years of Ambode is like four more years of Fashola,
while four years of Agbaje is another four years of Jonathan. Brothers and
sisters in Lagos state, keep the faith in APC - the party that has been tried
and tested, and keeps delivering.
Please vote for continuity of good governance in Lagos State.
Vote Akinwunmi Ambode for Governor on April 11th.

You are saying the same thing. You said the same yesterday in an article titled '10 reasons....". We need change in LAGOS. We are tired of Jagaban and omo Chicago! We have promoted him to national level to dine with Buhari so as to divert his attention from LAGOS. Enough is enough!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTaa! Gbafuo dia! Your write up is filled with vagueness, and an absolute pettiness. Governance shouldn't be for the elite alone. Yes, Lagos state no doubt have tried for the handful of elites that live at the island and other peripherals where the above middle class dwells. Elitism in government shouldn't and do not define good democracy and governance. So, if you believe that the centre should change, I believe that Lagos state should equally change! Watching Ambode and jK during debates, one need no angel to tell you that JK is well informed and means we'll for the down trodden. Tinubu can go and mind the federal while JK takes care of the home front. Let me remind you that Tinubu got the federal do not in anyway emanate from his works in lagos state, but rather from the northern ideology of "we must rule". The north practically gave /rigged their son into power. Tinubu just provided the platform to achieve that. JK remains the best option for lagos, so that Godfatherism will come to an end.
ReplyDeleteWe lagosian by forefather we are not happy with the way BOLA is operating our great great father's land,BOLA is a thief turning to lagos used our father land as his ATM despite of all what mama did for him bringing him a common stranger to be claiming lagos as his state of origin but at end is an ingrate somebody so enough is enough to reign of king Nebuchadnezzar in lagos now we want true lagosian, we want AGBAJE.
ReplyDeleteWe should not be sentimental or emotional about vicious and baseless propaganda by individuals with no track records in governance or private practice. The question is whether Lagos is working or not. My opinion is YES that Lagos remains the "brain-box " and model state of Nigeria. All previous Governors since 1999 has progressively raised the bar of making Lagos a better place for all irrespective of tribe or religion.
ReplyDeleteEnough is enough we need change in Lagos state also. Let us try another brain. Tinubu should try another state as his ATM
ReplyDeleteLet us try JK. Enough of Jagaban
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a matter of trying. Lagosians think outside the box. We cannot waste another 4 years cos we want to try. Who does that? America wasn't built by trying. I'd suggest we vote for continued improvement.
DeleteThere is no time to try JK, we need continuity. JK is in wrong party.
DeleteNo...I dnt agree with u..even d writer contradicted himself...he said we do not need someone dat is not tested n trusted..my question is,is ambode tested n trusted???is ambode evn choosen by fashola??ambode was choosen by tinubu not fashola..anyway,wat is good for d goose,is also good for d gander..since d centre can change, let lagos state change also..
DeleteJagaban has done enough! Please move over. Lagos is being run like Jagaban's business empire. We need fresh air. APC forgot that it was elected to serve the majority of Lagosians who are poor. They are very insensitive in their policies and all progress made is for the rich. They don't match salaries of the electorate with their demands. They have lost touch with reality as is usually the case with being in power for so long!
ReplyDeleteELEVEN REASONS WHY LAGOS WILL BE BETTER OFF WITH JK
ReplyDelete1. If you believe truly in democracy, it'll be an opposite of the term to have APC controlling both of the strongest arms of the country. There will be no watchful police and corruption will thrive.
2. If Bode George is JK’s godfather, where was he 8 years ago when JK ran for governor and almost won? A godfather is someone that starts your political career, lets not get it twisted
3. We shouldn't fool ourselves and try to be hypocrites. If we could describe Jonathan's govt as several things, let's all at least admit to ourselves that tinubu has been equally bad as a leader. No long story there.
4. Buhari has already said he will work with all states no matter what, so is APC Lagos trying to say Buhari won’t give Lagos the 51 billion naira that is owed if APC isn’t the controlling party here?
5. Look at the candidates, we know which is the better man. They had months to tell us their plans and while JK was talking about serious issues, Ambode was simply singing and dancing, now he’s getting serious and wants to wake up because he knows he’s about to lose.
6. The Lekki Epe Tollgate makes about 30million naira a day, yet 60% of Lagosians live without pipeborn water and secondary school performance is at 45% because of bad funding.
7. They said they can’t pay the civil servants the national minimum wage or give them full leave allowances yet they spent 1 billion naira on fireworks last year that lasted 30 minutes. 1 BILLION NAIRA.
8. To crown that one, the new Lekki Ikoyi bridge cost 7billion to build yet it was contracted for 35billion naira, so tell me, what happened to the 31billion naira? Did we donate it to the water beneath the bridge?
9. The current government keeps focusing on developing the island only and if you notice not only is it causing so much congestion and traffic, it’s also leaving majority of the population on the mainland without opportunities.
10. LAGOS STATE CURRENTLY DOES’NT OWN A SINGLE PROPERTY because they’ve given it all out to themselves and shared what’s left. If Lagos as of right now wants to build say a central hub for the youth or center for the disabled, it actually has to BUY land, think about that.
11. The State is getting finer, making profits but the grassroots are getting poorer and suffering more and more. BRT is another moluwe bus and Ambode is busy saying the state is a company and he wants to be the CEO. So the state is now about profit making at the expense of all the poor people?
That’s 11 reasons, one for free. We should not let anyone interfere with the process of democracy. When we go out to vote, stand at the polls. Monitor the polling officers. Defend the Polling units. Defend your vote because we all know if democracy prevails, JK will surely win.
