KADUNA: Appointments in my government will be based on merit - El-Rufai


Kaduna State Governor-Elect, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, has received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission in Kaduna, the state capital, on Wednesday.

Apart from el-Rufai, others that collected their Certificate of Return are the Senators-elect – Danjuma Laah(Kaduna South), Shehu Sani(Kaduna Central) and Suleiman Hunkuyi(Senatorial North) and member-elect, Mohammed Soba, representing Makarfi/Kudan Federal Constituency.



INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Niger, Kaduna, Kwara states and the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Chris Iyimoga, presented the certificates to the winners of the just concluded elections at the INEC headquarters in Kaduna.

El-Rufai, shortly after receiving the certificate, said appointments into his government would strictly be based on merit.

He noted that the criteria for those that would form his cabinet, after being sworn into office on May 29, would be based on integrity, competence and transparency.

“Appointments and nominations into the incoming cabinet and government will be primarily on the basis of integrity and determined strictly by competence, capacity and capability,” he said.

According to the governor-elect, his administration takes seriously the rebuilding of the state, he says, is plagued by heavy debt, urging the people to come together to ensure that the desired change are effected without delay in the state.

To hit the ground running, El-Rufai, a former minister of the FCT, also noted that the APC government in the state was committed to build a harmonious society, where all would live in peace and treated equally with fairness and justice.

He vowed that electoral offenders in the just concluded general elections in the state would be prosecuted.
