The Spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Professor Ango Abdullahi, was Wednesday shot by some soldiers in Bauchi on his way to Gadau.
The former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, attacked his car as soldiers shot at the car as his driver overtook a military convoy.
Narrating what happened to newsmen in Bauchi yesterday, Professor Abdullahi said he was on his way for an official assignment at Bauchi State University, Gadau, where he is the chairman of the university’s governing council.
“It was in the morning as I was travelling in my official car with my driver. I was going to Gadau for a meeting. We had just passed the Awala Hotel roundabout when I saw a military convoy moving very slowly.
“I was trying to catch up for the meeting, so my driver overtook the military convoy. The next thing I knew they opened fire at us, with bullets were sprayed on the car.
“The bullets damaged the engine of the car, damaged the car that we had to park by the road side. The soldiers came out and were shouting angrily at us.
“They were demanding to know why we wanted to overtake them, asking if we didn’t know that the soldiers were exporting sensitive materials,” he said.
According to him, “they just left us there and continued their movement. I have never seen such a reckless act.
“I called the Commissioner for Higher Education and told him. The Commissioner for Higher Education called the security agencies chiefs to inform them of what happened.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Jonathan errand men, for goodness sake what are they carrying that they will want to waste a professor's life. Well.......
ReplyDeleteThunder fire you there! everything is Jonathan, is it a curse to be a president?
DeleteYes!! jonadaft is a curse to Nigerians idot.mumu May God to you what Jonathan has done to Nigerians including your generation unborn #bringbackourgirls
DeleteNo its a curse to be a president from. South-south or south east. Any other place is allowed! If it's north better, if it's south-west, let's manage him, but south-south or south-east! Mbanu! It's a sacrilege! If your wife couldn't give in, it's obviously that president from the south-south! If your wife over salts the food! Haba! Jonathan you again! If your erection delayed in coming, ah! It's that otueke man! I've said it times without number, let this country disintegrate and all man goes his way! Period! It's not by force! Marriages go on separation or divorce if it can't work. Why must we stick together after 100yrs! To even imagine that the south-south and south-east produces the oil that feeds the nation and yet they can't drink and drop the cup without onlookers going mad! It's either power devolves from the center, or we practice true federalism or we go our separate ways! Ce fi ni!
Delete@12:12 i won't place a curse on u but trust me u are one of the problem and reason for nigeria dissolution who mentioned ethnic here we are talking of wat lawless a president has turned our country to i think u should think cos if we go seperate ways u will still continue to discriminate b/t ur south-south region .think
DeleteNnamdi you are very stupid to link every event to politics. It shows how uninformed you are.
ReplyDeletemay God allow the insecurity Jonathan has given Nigerians to visit. You and your entire house hold #bringbackourgirls
DeleteEverything links back to the presidency and leadership in a country, if he allows it to happen, it will. If a leader says no to certain things, it will never be allowed to happen but a leader definitely needs to take a stance otherwise the citizens of a country will always take laws in their hands and act lawless
DeleteEven in countries like America which we always want to compare our president with, have there not been a rash of extra - judicial killings by the police on unarmed citizens? How many of the policemen have been jailed? No matter how hard a president works you can never have a perfect system. Let's stop making ours look out of the ordinary because we don't like the president. He may not be charismatic as a person but he is trying.
DeleteProf u shud tnx God dat u ar stil alive.infact u need 2give aspecial testimony,u knw wat de contry is passin tru in tterms of National security.ova taken a heavily armed security.a rational tinkin nigerian 'll neva act de way u acted.tnx God norin hhappen if nt al dis busuru wud av started burnin churches nd putin de blame on GEJ.GOD BLESS NIGERIA
ReplyDeleteThank Allah. They could have wasted this brain life for nothing and nothing will happen.
ReplyDeletePoliticians are been full security but the cream of the society no.what a country.
U are a fool, can u over take a bullion van let alone governors convoy how much more military convoy.
DeleteNnamdi if it's truly your name must have the blood of boko harm who blame the president if they get choked when they eat
ReplyDeleteNnamdi if it's truly your name must have the blood of boko harm who blame the president if they get choked when they eat
ReplyDeleteGoodluck for life
ReplyDeleteI laugh when Niger deltans talk about splitting,r u going to move your houses built in lagos with you to the Niger delta?remember lagos belongs to the yorubas?lol
ReplyDeleteIt's funny when people say split. Even if Nigeria splits to 37 different countries from their individual states, there'll still be internal problems in each country. Worse being the Niger Delta region. They haven't thought about this.
DeleteWe should be mindful of what we say here. Inthe first place what the Prof. did was wrong. He ought to beckon them and patiently wait for approval going by what's happening in that part of the country.
ReplyDeleteU re lucky to be alive this time, next time over take a military convoy exporting sensitive materials to a foreward operational area, u will not live to narrate the story. Ewu professor
ReplyDeleteThey do everything they like and think that Nigeria belongs to them. How can an old professor like this allow his convoy to try to overtake a military convoy knowing the security situation in Nigeria? Can't they pack by the side and allow the military convoy to pass?
ReplyDeleteI have respect to the Professor but this time he acted foolishly. Thank God he is alive
ReplyDeleteMy brother let stop wasting our time with this cows call almagiris what did they know u saw a military convoy conveying weapons u just over took them without recourse to what is happening in the north. That animal for them is a prof. book haram prof.
ReplyDeleteD prof was wrong in action by overtaking a convoy, a military one at dat. Where u go for a life or death meeting? Am sure u want sympathy for ur error. Thank ur God u re alive cos ur foolishness wud ve taken ur life
ReplyDeleteDat professor is an educated illiterate. It was God that saved him. Let us separate realities from politics.
