Sambo inaugurates N100bn Gurara irrigation project


Vice President Namadi Sambo on Friday inaugurated the N100bn Gurara irrigation project.

Speaking on the occasion, Sambo said the project would boost industrial activities and create jobs in the state.


He said the project would provide 600 hectares of land for irrigation, which would boost the economy of the people in the area and the nation.

The vice president added that the project would also provide 30 megawatts of electricity to the state, which would include a substation and 120-kilometre transmission.

Sambo said the power boost was expected to ginger more economjc activities in the area and assist in increased production in the industries.

He explained that the project was part of President Goodluck Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda aimed at improving the quality of lives of the citizenry.

He urged the communities to make the maximum use of the facilities to improve their lives.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Muktar Yero, commended the Federal Government for completing the project, adding that it would bring prosperity, not only to the immediate community, but the nation at large.
