Nigeria extradites Kekere-Ekun, Nigerian wanted in U.K. for Murder

Abdul Adewale Kekere-Ekun, the Nigerian whose extradition was approved by a Federal High Court, Abuja, on March 9, is on his way to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Kekere- Ekun left Abuja on Tuesday morning for London, where he is to be prosecuted for murder-related offences.

Justice A. R Mohammed gave the nod for Mr. Kekere-Ekun’s extradition after his lawyers dropped their objection to the extradition request brought by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation.

Mr. Kekere-Ekun is wanted by the UK government for the murder of one Marcus Hall, an 18-year-old who was beaten and stabbed to death 14 years ago following a brawl outside a night club in Luton, England.

The UK Police had difficulties tracking him down because he frequently disguises himself with several aliases (Adebayo Dalvin James Ekun, Adeba Yo Kekere-Ekun, Adeba Yo Muta Lito Kekere-Ekun, James Dalvin, James Adebayo, Dave Bell, David Aaro Hall, Anthony Higgins, Lavelle Holder, Dalrin James, Dalvin James and Gary Edwin Plummer)

He later fled the UK in a bid to escape prosecution for the offence.

But the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested him in Lagos, Nigeria on February 12, 2015 with the support of the National Crime Agency. He was picked up for identity theft related offences only for checks by the agency to reveal that he is on the wanted list of the UK Police.

Following his arrest, an extradition request was filed by the U.K. government.
