(7:30pm) President Jonathan's V.P, Namadi Sambo finally defeats APC in his polling unit

(7:06pm) A group of armed political thugs have reportedly hijacked ballot boxes on
Ayilara Street in the Mushin area of Lagos.

INEC officials told presmen that the thugs, after snatching
the ballot box, emptied them in the gutter.

It was learnt that the House of Reps and Senatorial
ballot materials were affected, hence residents could not vote.

An official said, “They came in a car. They also
carried bottles and cutlasses. As soon as they hijacked the boxes, they poured
them (papers) into the gutters and ran away in their car.

Counting of votes commenced after voting at the Ward E30 FHA estate in Kubwa Abuja. Voting was smooth and large voters turnout was witnessed. It was a very successful exercise in Kubwa in Abuja.

 BREAKING NEWS (5:32pm)  : The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has approved the postponement to Sunday of elections in some polling units where accreditation was challenging. 

Two of the polling units affected by such postponement are at Iyalla Street in Alausa, Ikeja, where the presiding officer announced the postponement because card readers were not working and there was no back-up.


It is not yet clear the full details of polling units affected by such postponements and total number of voters that could be affected. However, in a statement via its twitter handle @inecnigeria on Saturday evening, the electoral agency stated that “in PUs where accreditation was suspended to the next day in accordance with the guidelines, arrangements will be made for voters to vote tomorrow, subject to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010.”

The statement also gave permission to electoral officials to do manual accreditation of voters when card readers are causing problems. Saturday's elections are to elect a president and members of the federal parliament in Africa's largest country.

 The presidential elections is seen as one of the closest in the nation's history and is mainly between the incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress.

(4:21pm)Voting has just been concluded in Ofu-Ai Unazi polling unit of Apa ward, Ado LGA, Benue state. In all 50  persons only turned out 4 accreditation cum voting. Comr Daniel Onjeh of the APC (Benue South Senatorial seat) defeated the sitting senate president, David Mark by 27 to 21 as 2 votes were invalidated. The card reader in Governor Martin Elechi’s polling booth in Ebonyi State has declined identifying him.
Elechie tried three times at the Echialike ward in Ikwo Local Government Area, but could not scale through.
The governor had to fill an incident form to vote.


(3:36pm) Leye, Lagos: Voting yet to start at Unit 27, Shonola Junction, Aguda-Ogba, at 3:30pm. Accreditation still on.

(3:28pm) Moshood Adebisi, Sango: At Borehole  Ota 2 unit,  along Ilogbo  Road, as of 2:15 pm, voting has not started. About 150 people  were holding their PVC but yet to be accredited. At Ward 2 unit 13 along Idi Iroko-Ota Road, as of  1:20 pm about  70 people  were still seen in the queue waiting for accreditation.

Likewise Esa night market 2 polling unit along Iganmode Road, more than 80 people were in the queue waiting for accreditation. They complained about lack of personnel. There were two card readers being operated by only one person.

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State, Mr. Edward Nkwegu, has called for cancellation of the elections.

Nkwegu said that since the card readers disenfranchised “so many eligible voters, it would only be proper for the elections to be cancelled.”

(1:51pm) The New London polling unit- 007-Suleja in Niger state is experiencing lots of unverified fingerprints; filling the incident forms. The INEC officials arrived 8.45 a.m at Village Square PU 001, Ikot Idem Nsit, Asang ward 5, Akwa Ibom. Accreditation commenced from 9 a.m. with card readers working properly. PU 31-05-10-042 Dogon Dutse, Jos still awaiting INEC officials at about 10.42 a.m.

(1:41pm): While poll officers are preparing for voting to commence, the Presiding Officer at Unit 007 in front of National Library, Annexe, Off Moshood Abiola Way, Area 2, Garki Abuja, said 465 voters were accredited of 1pm, out of the 2021 registered voters

INEC officials told voters to come back next week to vote in ward 040,
Okunola, Alimosho. They claimed they have 5 incident forms for 1,050
voters.

(1:34pm) Card reader quick fix by Ohiozei Obaseki
Card readers were apparently failing often at a polling booth near an Accenture staff's home. And the guy couldn't understand why...cos the readers were all new. So he approached the INEC woman. Inspected the reader. Only to find the protective film on the lense of the reader had not been removed. After a protracted argument he convinced the woman to remove it. The reader not only read the prior rejected cards, it was reading with even faster response time.

(1:29pm) Some violence recorded in Ozuaha, Port Hacourt, dozens of unused ballot papers littered the streets after thugs attacked INEC officials bringing in electoral materials into the community.

Though, yet to be confirmed by the police, at least one person is believed to have died in the ensuing gun battle between the thugs and security team escorting corps members and other polling officers into the town.

Blood stains littered major road leading into the community according to reports, while women rolled on the floor, wailing over their losses of loved ones.

(1:20PM) In Unit 19, Omagwa-Ale, voters were seen harassing youth corpers,
accusing them of not carrying genuine result sheets.
As a result, accreditation was halted for several minutes but has now
continued after a combined team of military and normal policemen
patrolling the area intervened.

(1:00PM) Stanley Opara, Awka: As of 12 noon, drivers, who were to convey electoral materials refused to do so. They said they were not paid their allowances. This happened at Ogbaru LGA. They have asked INEC to settle them before they can leave.
Some contestants were said to have paid the drivers from their pockets.


(12:54pm) At Unit 15, Ward 5, Ode Sokoto area, Ogbomoso election officers are now practically begging voters to come out for accreditation.
It was learnt that voters had initially come out but went back angrily when the card reader didn’t work initially


(12:52pm) Card reader fails to capture biometrics of Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang and his wife, Talatu. As at about 12: 27 pm, the duo was yet to be accredited. Speaking to journalists shortly after the card reader machine failed to authenticate him, Mr. Jang said "I am disappointed in the process, since the card reader can reject the number one citizen of the state." Those without PVC's at the governor's polling unit in protest non issuance of PVCs.

(10:53am): KATSINA - The card reader brought by polling officials at Karamnawa unit of Bare ward in Bare local government has failed to read voters at PU 011.
The officials arrived the unit at 9:41am and could only accredit two voters after 45 minutes.
They have gone back to the local government headquarters to get a replacement.


(10:51am) Accreditation has begun at Polling Unit 011 at Arowojobe Street, Oshodi. A check of the accreditation time shows a range of 11 seconds to 1 minute 5 seconds per person. At a nearby polling unit, some voters whose cards couldn't be read were asked to wait by INEC officials



(10:50am) In kofar Hausa primary school polling unit 002 and 003 in Keffi local government, accreditation started around 9am. It takes three to five minutes to clear one person.

(10:45am) Abakaliki: Corps members on election duty in Ebonyi State could not remember the various polling units and wards where they are assigned for the election.
:A clear example was the case at Urban New Layout Ward, located at New Layout Primary School, Abakaliki, where a female corps member had to peep into her book to remember the ward and polling unit where she is scheduled to carry out election duties.
When our correspondent asked her to mention the ward and polling unit, she said, “Hey, please wait, let me check the document.”
Her response elicited laughter from the crowd, who shouted “Jonathan pikin,” while some others shouted “INEC must go.”

(10:40am) BREAKING NEWS: The INEC officials in Otuoke just confirmed to Channels TV that contrary to previous reports, President Jonathan and his wife have not been accredited, after trying 4 card readers. However NE gathered that other prospective voters after President Jonathan have been accredited.

A minor disagreement between a corps member and a commercial bus driver hired to convey materials almost degenerated into fisticuffs.

(9:51am) Bukola Adebayo, Uyo: Accreditation is also yet to start at Ikot Ekang LGA, Ward 8, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

(9:51am) Chukwudi, Port Harcourt: CHIEF Anabs Sara-Igbe, former security adviser to Rivers State ex-governor, Dr. Peter Odili, had alleged that election materials meant for Wards 15 and 16, Kula, in Akuku-Toru Local Government have been diverted.

  4. Card readers were apparently failing often at a polling booth near an Accenture staff's home. And the guy couldn't understand why...cos the readers were all new. So he approached the INEC woman. Inspected the reader. Only to find the protective film on the lense of the reader had not been removed. After a protracted argument he convinced the woman to remove it. The reader not only read the prior rejected cards, it was reading with even faster response time. Please share. It could help a lot.

  5. Wasn't that INEC personnel trained on how to remove a simple lens cover? That fellow might have some agenda off her sleeve or she's simply incompetent and should respectfully leave this important exercise in the annal of this country. Meanwhile, NE kindly review your date. As at last check today's date is 28th March 2015 and not 30th. Thanks

Don't dey thumb print in there houses abi u nor dey this country.u shld shot ur mouth n slp cos u r obviously not in dis country. All d ballot boxes dat was snap where did dey go to??? I wouldn't b surprise dat d ballot box dat was snap his d same dey r using in there houses to thumb print now.my advise is dat,dat unit in Victoria island shld b cancel
