The Chairman Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, has said that the rejection of President Goodluck’s biometrics by the commission’s voter’s card readers is a national embarrassment and regrettable.
Speaking on Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, Mr. Jega said in all, he thanks God that the election is a success with great turn out of voters who exercised their franchise in patience.
He also apologized over the incident that occurred in polling unit 13 at Otazi playground, Otueke in Bayelsa State where Mr. Jonathan’s biometrics could not be read by the card reader after three different trials.
The president was later accredited using the manual, incidence register as approved by the chairman of the electoral commission.
“As we know man proposes, and God disposes and we have experienced some challenges,” Mr. Jega said.
He also said, “Despite our challenges, we believe that the card readers have done the best for credible elections.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
