Jonathan tired, overwhelmed by governance – Osinbajo

The running mate to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) has said President Goodluck Jonathan is tired and overwhelmed by governance, so must be voted out on Saturday for Nigeria to regain political and economic freedom.

According to him, the Peoples Democratic Party-led government has grounded the economy of the country through pervasive corruption and other socio-economic problems in the last 16 years.

Speaking at a town hall meeting with members of APC in Ado Ekiti on Monday, Osinbajo said a vote for Major Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd), was a vote for deliverance from the shackles of “poverty, unemployment and corruption” in Nigeria.

He said, “President Jonathan is tired of governance because he is overwhelmed. His government has no focus . As of today, Nigeria is the most corrupt in the world.

“That is why they are afraid of Buhari’s presidency because they are afraid of being jailed . They know there won’t be room for corrupt practices. We are promising you that wonders shall happen again in this country if Buhari wins this election.

“President Jonathan has failed Nigerians in all aspects and deserves to be rejected by Nigerians. If you look at our programme, all we emphasized is how to provide jobs for our unemployed youths. Whether Jonathan likes it or not, the dream of Nigeria becoming a liberated State shall come to pass on Saturday,” he said.

Meanwhile, the APC claimed that the convoy of its Ekiti Central senatorial ‎candidate, Gbenga Olofin, had been shot along Ilawe-Ado Road by Omisanjana junction area in Ado Ekiti.
A statement by the state Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, said the convoy was heading towards the Town Hall meeting, “when they came under attack by thugs riding in the campaign bus of Mrs Fatimah Raji Rasaki‎, the PDP senatorial candidate in Ekiti Central.”

“In the attack, the campaign vehicle of Olubunmi Oriniowo, who is seeking re-election to the House of Assembly, was‎ damaged beyond repair. They also damaged Olofin’s vehicle in the attack.
“Residents fled the scene as the guns boomed while shops were closed as staccato of bullets jolted ‎passersby to seek safety.

“Distraught supporters of the politicians were making calls from their hiding‎ while the thugs took over the stretch of the road harassing residents,” the statement said.

Mrs. Raji-Rasaki could not be reached for comment on Monday. A call placed to her mobile telephone indicated it was switched off.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Alberto Adeyemi, said the Command had yet to get the report.

Osinbajo urged voters to ignore the ‘vote and go home’ order of the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, saying they should vote and protect their votes.

The APC Deputy Chairman, South and former Governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, who branded the Jonathan’s government as a disgrace to the country, said Nigeria could not afford another four years of corruption and bad governance under the PDP rule.

“Nigeria is the only country where over 400, 000 barrels of crude oil are being stolen daily. Nigeria is the only country where people are being kidnapped without resistance. Nigeria is the only country where a President said stealing is no corruption. All these would have to stop for the coming generations to be proud of us as leaders.”

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, urged the Ekiti populace to use the election to be part of history as one of those who fought for Nigeria’s rebirth.

He added that those that were afraid of being jailed should not be allowed to perpetuate themselves in office and continue to loot the country.

Present at the occasion were: Former Ekiti Governor, Niyi Adebayo; former Governor of the old Ondo State, Evang, Bamidele Olumilua; former Deputy Governor, Prof Modupe Adelabu; Mrs Bisi Fayemi and Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele among others.

  1. Prof sir, you have suddenly become a "change" advocate. You are now enjoying Oga's reward. You and your Oga are planning to do to Nigeria what you did to Lagos during your tenure as attorney general. You aid the Asiwaju to aquire corruptly whatsoever he wishes in "his state". He knows you are a good player in the acts of "milking". God will never give us your type CHANGE.

  3. Osinbajo is a professor of nonsense. If he says that GEJ is tired, then GMB is dead. How can 'Osinbajo be following a 'dead' man? It means Osinbajo is dead too.
