How Jonathan, PDP wasted ₦1 TRILLION of tax payers money to sponsor hate campaigns – APC

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation on Monday accused the President Goodluck Jonathan campaign organisation of frittering away N1tr of tax payers money to sponsor hate campaigns to tarnish the image of leaders of the APC.

According to the APCPCO, the money was spent on advertorials in newspapers as well as sponsorship of damaging documentaries on the APC presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), and other party leaders.

Director of Media and Publicity of the APC campaign, Mallam Garba Shehu, said this at a press conference at the party’s campaign headquarters in Abuja.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party denied the allegation and accused the APC of paranoia and desperation in its futile attempt to claim power.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, said, “It is now clear that the APC has nothing else to tell Nigerians, who have made up their minds to return President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP. Ask them, how much is Nigeria’s budget? They should talk on issues and stop this propaganda.”

Shehu said, “A panoramic view of how much Nigeria’s resources Jonathan and PDP have laboriously and wantonly spent on print, broadcast and social media campaigns just to damage the unassailable credential of Gen Buhari’s integrity will confound any casual observer of the polity in recent times.

“An average cost of a wrap around in Tier 1 and Tier 2 newspapers in Nigeria is between N15m to N20m and the Jonathan campaign buys an average of five wrap around and front pages in a day in the last three months coupled with the hundreds of billions that have been spent on negative TV exposures on AIT, NTA and other television and radio stations across the country.

“We had expected that a President that has spent about six years in office, with the revenues more than what all governments before him had received, will run on a record of performance rather than peddling lies and hate media campaigns that are accentuating ethnic and religious tensions in the country.”

The APC campaign also alleged that Jonathan had been criss-crossing Nigeria giving an average of N50m each to traditional rulers, most especially in the South-West and the northern parts of Nigeria.

  1. APC and their propaganda!
    APC and their baseless allegations!
N1tr is now so simple for you people to mention, but come to think of it, you've told us how much PDP spent, but you've forgot to tell us how much APC spent bcos all that PDP did as campaign, APC equally did the same. Rally, advert, documentary, journal, oversea trip and many more. APC didn't tell us how much they spent during Buhari's visit in U K. APC first remove the plank in ur own eyes b4 removing the pinch of dust in another persons eyes.

    1. I hope you can reason well beyond party affiliation,if the incumbent government spends billions on re-election,questions should be asked. The country's institutions are in need of financial interventions, salaries and pensions are not paid, the same government is spending so much on re-election. As for the opposition, they're not in government yet and can't be accused of embezzlement.

    2. @ Sonola, APC can be accused bcos they are in govt. You say APC isn't in govt and therefore can't be accused of embezzlement. Let me ask you, where is Fashola-Lagos, Rochas- IMO, kwankwaso-Kano, Oshomole-Edo, Chibuike Amaechi-Rivers, Tanko- Nasarawa, Yobe, Bornu and Oyo state governors and so many other APC governors. Are they not in govt or where is the Buhari campaign money coming frm? Frm Buhari or pastor Osibanjo? Haba!let's face the truth here. PDP's fund is even clearer than that of APC bcos we all knew when PDP raised fund for their campaign where billions of naira were raised by individual lovers of Mr President, but that of APC is questionable and cannot be traced. I'm not supporting the huge amount being spent but let the kettle stop calling pot black. That's my stand. APC pointing accusing fingers as is they are innocent.

    3. GC, you've said it all. Ironically, once a person or group is biased nothing makes sense to them. Ask Nigerianeye!
