I will not allow Boko Haram take over Nigerian territory - Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday promised Nigerians that the nation would resist any attempt by the Boko Haram insurgents to take over any Nigerian territory.

Speaking at the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party in Damaturu, Yobe State, one of the states hardest hit by the Boko Haram menace in the North-East, Jonathan said the Federal Government would resist any attempt by the Boko Haram terrorists to take over the control of any town or village in the country.

The president, while addressing a crowd of party supporters, who thronged the rally ground in Damaturu, said the Federal Government was committed to ending terrorism in the country.

He expressed happiness that Yobe State was presently free of the dreaded sect.

The President said, “As I speak, I am so happy to announce that Yobe has been freed of Boko Haram as all territories, earlier under the control of the sect members, had been recaptured by our able troops and we will henceforth resist any attempt by the sect members or any group to take control of any territory.”

He lamented that Boko Haram members had been unleashing havoc on innocent people and destroying various communities, stressing that such era was over.

He added, “It is unfortunate that our brothers and sisters have turned mad against us and have left us with these sad memories.”

He restated his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of the people of the areas despite the activities of the insurgents.

  4. Open Confession! GEJ seemed to have agreed that he allowed the menace in the first place. Meanwhile let me re-inform him that Gamboru Ngala has fallen again. How sad will the Chadian soldiers be after all their sacrifice to rescue Gamboru, it has fallen in the hand of Nigerian govt again. What a pity? Lets pray for more inspiration for our leaders on how to manage the situation.
