I was under the influence of the holy spirit, Buhari never gave me money - Father Mbaka

Catholic priest and founder of Adoration Ground, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, who endorsed the candidacy of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on January 1, says he never received money from the retired general.

Mbaka, who launched a scathing attack against President Goodluck Jonathan during a New Year sermon, said in a clip posted online on Sunday night that he was speaking under divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit, saying that he had never met Buhari before nor did he receive money from any politician.

The cleric had been criticised by Jonathan’s supporters for condemning the President, not long after the priest had in November last year hosted Jonathan’s wife, Patience, at his church where he prayed for her husband’s re-election.

However, Mbaka, at the recent sermon said a lot had changed since he prayed for Jonathan’s victory.

He said there had been instances in the Bible where God endorsed people but later cast them out due to their misdeeds.

He said Nigerians, under Jonathan, had been experiencing the harshest living conditions ever occasioned by the slump in oil price, high unemployment rate and inflation due to the devaluation of the naira.

He said someone else would be needed to turn around the fortunes of the country as Jonathan had run out of ideas.

He said, “Some people said the APC people and Buhari had given me money but I have never seen Buhari before; I don’t know him. Buhari’s one kobo, as I talk to you, has never touched my hand. I don’t know him; God in heaven is my witness. I am just the voice of the voiceless, the sorrowful and the cheated and frustrated Nigerians

“He (Jonathan) says it shall be well but until when? Is it until you die? If my message will stir them into action, thank God it has achieved its purpose. I am not a politician; my job is to raise my voice from the sanctuary here. The same God that helped the Israelites to cross the red sea, did he not punish them in the desert?”

He urged his congregation to stop praising government for doing its job.

“Nobody should praise any government for constructing roads because that is the job of the government. If you come to my church and I give you Holy Communion, is that an achievement?” he asked.

He said the rate of unemployment in the country was alarming and it would cause a high rate of crime, saying “this should be the focus of any serious government because there can be no prosperity amid chaos.”

“It is the duty of a mother to breastfeed her child; it is not an achievement,” he said.

  1. Well spoken the Reverend. You will remain the people's voice and God whom you are serving is the only one that can judge you, not Nigerian politicians and their cronies. Without even your sermon, the whole country is tired and aware of the cluelessness of Jonathan. You also rightly said it, why should a government be praised for constructing a road when that is what it is supposed to be doing?

    1. Let it be known to you that Samuel never incited the Isrealites against Saul, and Mbaka never prophesied that GOD has rejected GEJ. Is the Holy spirit an author of confusion? Never use your office to influence other peoples personal decision, that not why they came to your church. Learn from pastor Tunde Bakare! Politicians will use you, dump you and you loose your respect before the massrs.

    2. You just used a wrong example @Samuel inciting Saul. Read your Bible... Saul made a national sacrifice to God instead of waiting for Samuel to arrive at the camp to do so because he claimed he was scared of the peoples impatience. Samuel told him in front of everyone that the kingdom of Israel has been taken away from him by God and given to his neighbour (David). I believe that is inciting enough cos everyone at that point knew Saul was no more king. Let God judge Mbaka and generations unborn since he rightly claimed he received no bribes. The Saul story is repeating itself again as I believe God has rejected Jonathan. If you are thanking him for constructing a few of our roads and ignoring the theft and corruption in his government, shame on you. A pastor or religious leader has a mandate from God to influence his followers, to speak when things are wrong, to act as a watchman on whose head the blood of the innocent shall be asked. For Christians, our faith does not even allow us to sit on the fence. When you see evil, injustice and suffering in the land, you must speak up and fight it and defend the weak and poor. If you don't, their blood would be required of you by the creator. So speaking against an inept government is his duty (Mbaka) as well as the duty of every Nigerian that has at one time or the other recited our national pledge. A pledge is a vow to God. Don't forget.

    3. Extremely well spoken. I say "Amen" to every word you wrote. Christian leaders who either sit on the fence when they see evil or pretend that evil is good embarrass the faith.

  3. Well said Rev. Father. The Oracle of God has spoken. Monkeying from one church to another or from one Oba's palace to other unknown destinations is medicine after death. We trust in this revelation by the Holy Spirit because this year's election has become a Movement beyond General Buhari. Power must change hands in Aso Rock on 28th March.

  5. Yany, i dont need to read your comment before i know what u are saying, since i have been reading comments in these Nigerian eye, u have never made any comment to credit PDP or Goodluck Jonathan government, anything negative said about him, u throw your support, do you hate so much? is there nothing positive about this Jonathan? is he the worst leader Nigerian has ever got?
Father Mbaka between Nov that u prayed for patience Jonathan, and definitely before she left she gave you prophet offering, and December what change?
immidiately you lay your hands on her the Holy spirit did not tell u not to pray for her? how come it was a month after u suddenly realize that the government is corrupt? how come it was a month after you suddenly realize that Nigerians are living harshest conditions ever occasioned by the slump in oil price, high unemployment rate and inflation due to the devaluation of the naira.
the catholic church which you serve, have come out and distance themselves from your self acclaimed prophecy, there are harachy in church, if the holy spirit is sending message to the president , he will use one of the highest bishop.

    1. Mbaka is a disgrace to the body of Christ. and for Yany don't waste your time on him, he's a blind APC supporter and has seriously been misled.

    2. Yes. Unfortunately, he is the worst president we have ever had. The signs are everywhere. A leader is a dealer in hope. He gives us no hope. A leader is an great influence. That man doesn't influence anybody. No child or person aspires to be like him. He is a weak leader whose grace has been shunted by corruption, lies and personal greed. If the Rev praised GEJ, you guys wuld claim he is the best. He spoke the truth and he has his rights as a Nigerian to express himself. If you want GEJ, vote for him and don't force Mbaka to follow your own opinion. Truth is if you guys don't like someone or a news agency, stop commenting on their page or reading what they say. You love them that's why you wait for their news and react. The holy spirit is also no respecter of persons. God can choose to work through a child than ever a prophet or Pope. See d story of Samuel and Eli and I'm not aware God has chosen a leading bishop cos even if that bishop talks, you guys would suddenly say God has left him and he has accepted bribes

    3. Yes we shall vote GEJ inspired of what any idiot thinks!

    4. Why are you guys scared? Even if Rv Fr. Mbaka did not prophesy don't you know that the prison doors are quite open for GEJ and all the PDP members. Don't insult any man of God bc of politics so that you will not carry what is too much for you to bear. A word is enough for the wise.

  6. mbaka is bringing shame to catholic church. I wonder why he has not been excommunicated or rather sent to vatican prison. his bishop should call him to order no matter how much he has been bringing to the church. many peoples' faith is at stake when it is discovvered that holy spirit did not speak to him.

  7. Rev. Mbaka. Why shouldn't we praise our government when they do their job? Thank God u agreed that GEJ did his job though not enough, a city is not built in a day. Many other government including OBJ's couldnt give us as common as road, so why wouldn't we appreiciate the one that has gone a step further? By the way nigerianeye i heard the message too, he never endosed Buhari. The reason why he is saying APC or Buhari never paid him is because people think everyone that castigate GEJ is APC which is wrong. Well GEJ be motivated to do more.

  8. Father Mbaka! You are filled with Ogogoro, not the holy spirit. Don't blaspheme! The spirit of God does not chop and change.

  9. Mbaka is not of God. He does not have the holy spirit.

  10. mbaka my greatest shame as a catholic is that you mentioned holy spirit thereby bringing us all to ridicule. had it been you never prayed and endorsed GEJ through his wife I may not have problem with you calling on the holy spirit. All these problems you mentioned as reason for hating GEJ were not created or rather did not happen between november when you prayed and endorsed GEJ and december 31 when you changed. I will not say many things because I know that you remain God's annointed but dont tell us holy spirit spoke to you in this instance besause I know you will be proved wrong.

  11. You guys should mind what you say when it comes to men of God so as not to bring judgement on yourselves. Fr. Mbaka said he was operating under the influence of the holyspirit and you still have the guts to says whatsoever you like. Do you know the person of the holyspirit, God forgives all sin but sin against the holyspirit is blasphemy and can never be forgiven. Don't you guys have the fear of God that you are so loose and thereby make some unguarded statements. Be very careful with what you say when it comes to men of God and their messages. This is not just about Fr. Mbaka, but about men of God at large. It is very bad the way some of you talk and reason sometimes. You have the right to believe him or not believe him, its a matter of choice but to insult him and any other is unbeliveable and unacptable. Be warned!

  12. God can choose anyone He likes to deliver His message to His people. Make sure u re a true Christian and u knw ur bible b4 u come out to comment in public matters. I will advise u pple speaking blasphemy with ur mouth to mind what u say b4 u bring condemnation on urself alone cos
of a matter not meant for u alone.

  13. If only our pastor can be bold and come out to speak the truth like Mbaka perhaps Nigeria will be a better country instead of them promising fake miracles or manners that will never fall.
