The first lady of Nigeria, Mrs Patience Jonathan visited Akure, Ondo state yesterday and she stressed the importance of education in her life.
It was made known that Patience Jonathan, who was on a ‘Women Rally’ was in Akure yesterday and while addressing Ondo women, she said she is a daughter and a fan of former first lady, late Maryam Babangida. Mrs Jonathan also advised the youths of Ondo to pursue their education, stressing that if she wasn’t educated, she wouldn’t be a first lady;
In her own words, she said, “Majority of the people of Ondo are educated and I believe you know the importance of education because without education there is no future. We should thank God for the administration of Goodluck and PDP. If somebody is talking and you are not educated, can you be there? If Hilary Clinton is talking and you are not educated, can you be there? As Mimiko (governor of Ondo) is there, without education can he be there? As I am standing before you, if I am not educated, will they choose me?”
Patience Jonathan holds a B.Ed in Biology and Psychology from the University of Port Hacourt, and she has worked a teacher in Bayelsa and also Bayelsa State Ministry of Education before her husband became the Deputy Governor of the state.
However despite her academic qualifications, Patience Jonathan has been a victim of consistent public jest owing to her alleged grammatical mis-constructions and errors.

ReplyDeleteGEJ and Mama P are both product of Uni port. Then something is wrong somewhere about the school. Maybe the school has it own English dictionary where stealing is not corruption and somebody's manhood can live after dead and even buried. lol
ReplyDeleteNow I understand why the quality of our education has nose-dived to such a low level. If we keep having the likes of "Mama Peace" as teachers in our schools, we cannot expect anything better from these children. Imagine a B.Ed holder in Biology and Psychology from the University of Port Harcourt, who cannot put together a complete sentence in English without "blowing" our heads off.
ReplyDeletethis days people with SSCE speak good English than people with Bsc n Msc
