The Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has likened the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to late Dr. Nelson Mandela of South Africa and urged Nigerians to give him the mandate to steer and stabilise the ship of state.
Addressing Imo State indigenes who gathered on the banner of Imo State Towns Development Association Lagos (ISTDAL) at a colourful reception for him at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Okorocha said at 72, the only thing uppermost in Buhari’s mind was to clear the rot in the polity and move on.

The governor, who spoke in Igbo language, said if the South-East Zone wanted to produce the president in the immediate future, the people must elect Buhari. Reason: “Buhari is the Mandela of our time. At 72, what does he want? He will do one term, fix the country and move on and then power will be come back to the South. When power rotates to the South, the South-East will have it in 2019 because the South-West has had it through Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the South-South through Dr Goodluck Jonathan.’’
However, he said the South-East would not be in the stead to produce the president if they did not get their politics right by voting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he claimed had marginalised the South-East. According to him, ‘’under President Jonathan administration, the South-East is not among the five topmost positions in the country (President, Vice President, Senate President, Chief Justice of the Federation, Speaker of the House of Representatives), does not have any of the service chiefs, Inspector General of Police, Controller of Customs, Immigration, Civil Defence, etc. We only have controller of Prisons. This is not fair.’’ Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

ReplyDeleteIt is disgusting by the attempt of PDP supporters to make it look as if anyone who do not support re election of president Jonathan is anti people, selfish, lacked integrity and foolish. I see PDP propaganda as psychological brain washing that is totally against the tenents of multi party democray. The reality on the ground do not reflect operationalization of political transformation dictum of the PDP administration. It is therefore, unbelievable that any right thinking Nigerian should join in the euphoria of political transformation and bandwagon of Jonathan's version of transformation. Instead, we should queue in for change that will likely usher in an ethical leadership that will through appropriate conducts and actions stimulate the economy and society to enviable position where its citizens will be proud of their country. This election is not about religion, ethnicity, region and alliances. It is about the personalities and what they stand for. It is about Nigeria's survival and jettison of old way of doing things that has stagnated our country for decades. It is about giving hope to the hopeless. This election is about securing the future of our children born and unborn. It is about our long term sustainable corporate existence that will constantly reassure the youths the benefits of hardworking. God bless Nigeria.
