In a release signed by Ibim Semenitari, his commissioner of information and communications, Amaechi described Ikuru’s reasons for defecting as “shocking”, observing that his deputy had been accorded all the dues of his office.
“The Rivers State Governor Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has only this evening received the news of the resignation of his Deputy Governor Engr Tele Ikuru from the All Progressives Congress,” the statement read.
“Whilst the news remains unofficial at this time as the Deputy Governor is yet to notify His Excellency the Governor of this move, Governor Amaechi however wishes Engr Ikuru all the best in his future political endeavours.
“He however wishes to note that the reasons adduced by Engr Ikuru are shocking as Deputy Governor lkuru has consistently been the one driving political activities in his local government area of Andoni and has been the second in command driving politics and governance in Rivers state.
“On a personal note, Governor Amaechi has accorded Engr Ikuru all the privileges and respect due the office of the Deputy Governor and has treated him with love as a friend brother.
“Though the Governor had hoped that the numerous rumours of Engr Ikuru’s double-faced membership of the APC and open romance with the PDP were not true, he however appreciates the fact that every individual has a right to pursue his political dreams, as he deems most appropriate.

ReplyDeleteThis is why it is always good never to say one thing in public and in secret be hatching another thing that will be detrimental to the interest of the same public just like the usual practice of our CiC GEJ.
When they postponed election, majority of Nigerians indicated that it was with sinister motive, even Papa OBJ indicated that it was clearly for the fear of woeful lose by PDP/GEJ. We all remember how GEJ tried unsuccessfully to convince Nigerians otherwise. Was it not just last week that OPC Fasheun confessed to the full glare of Cameras as posted on youtube that they indeed initiated the move to postponed since they assessed that GEJ will loose woefully.
I have always known Ikuru not to be a man of progressive principles from the way he handled the issue of the renegade Rivers State law makers.
I have always personally assessed him as an individual that only strives for survival and not really for any notable leadership cause.
Judging the way, he was empowered to be visible in the APC Electioneering, the reasons proffered by as basis for his defection are ludicrous since he was an active leader in some of the activities.
Shame on you Ikuru, you are really a disappointment to the future Patriotic Elites.
If Ikuru is only striving for survival, would it not have been in his interest to remain in APC since APC has been claiming from all its impartial polls that they would win the governorship elections in Rivers State as well as the Presidential elections? The man spoke his mind. Amechi has ceased to govern in the last 2 years and has unleashed the states resources just to ensure that Jonathan does not come back because of the way Mrs Jonathan treated him. He has forced the entire PDP political family to defect because of his personal war and I won't be surprised to see more defections from his cabinet in the next few days.

ReplyDeleteThe defection of the Right hand person to Ameachi of Rivers state send a great signal to APC as a failure Party in South south. Ameachi have forgotten himself but not all the members of his cabinate is supporting the wrong things he is doing to Rivers people Tele is one of the Persons that donot condon to falsehood and deceit no matter what u offer him. So APC struggle in Rivers is a total failure when analyse by professional , a time is coming that Ameachi will run away from the state and his supporter life will be endanger , better decamp know and be free from the storm that Wike and PDP ,-a word is enough for a wise.
