Almajiri schools: How Jonathan gave homeless street beggars decent education & shelter

Sponsored...

The Almajiri Integrated Model School (AIMS) was commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2012 to remove the massive number of school-age children roaming the streets, off them. The objective was to bridge the gap between Islamic and Western education in the region, according to Sheik ShehuUbaidullah, the Principal of one of the schools in Sokoto that this reporter visited.

Ubaidullah who had previously been the principal of a traditional Almajiri school for seven years, explains to me that he embraced the integration of conventional Western school system and Islamic education as a means to re-educate children in the region and convince families in rural areas send their children to school.

At the Almajiri Model Boarding School in Gagi, Sokoto, I saw the pupils – all 260 of them - partake in an early morning and nightly Quranic recitation. In between, all other subjects taught to students in conventional schools are being taught as well. Students enjoy regular extra-curricular activities, take classes in Social Studies, utilize a science lab and are trained in vocational skills via a regular monthly workshop held by the school management.

It seems like one administration  - the Jonathan one - has finally found a solution to the seemingly endless number of homeless children.

    1. Go find out, all this almajiri schools are from averted loan of Paris club so don't be deceived. Some of my friend serve at the NGO which supervise the project locally.
It was Paris club that fund the project and it is supervised by Paris club which is one of the criteria for waving off the loan in OBJ era. Better find out the truth before u start blabbing. As u can see, it is 2010 written on the desk, which was the time they completed some of it. Many of the almagiri school project were still ongoing Cos that money is much.

  9. NIGERIANEYE IS NOT ANTI GEJ, THE PROBLEM IS THE BAD JONATHAN DID IS MORE THAN THE GOOD. ASSUMING THE GOOD ARE MORE THAN THE BAD, IT WOULD BE PRO JONATHAN. THEY ARE JUST DOING THERE WORK. GEJ SHOULD WATCH HIS WAYS. GEJ PEOPLE ON THE FORUM FAILED TO SAY AMEN TO THIS PRAYER ''MAY GOD RUN YOUR LIFE THE WAY JONATHAN IS RUNNING THIS NATION'' PRO GEJ SHOULD SAY AMEN, THEN I WILL CHANGE MY MIND TO VOTE FOR GEJ. BE GUIDED.

Although many people are not aware/forgotten the Paris club loan thing but kindly check most of the almajiri project and see what is written on all the buildings, chairs and deskes and think why/what is the meaning of what is written on them.
