THE Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) and African Independent Television (AIT), on Tuesday, explained to the House of Representatives Committee on Information and National Orientation why it aired a documentary of “The Lion Of Bourdillon,” which alleged that the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, was corrupt.
Addressing the House committee during an interactive session on alleged “hate message” aired by the two stations, both the Director-General of NTA, Mr Sola Omole and the Group Managing Director at Daar Communications,Mr Tony Akiotu, maintained that they did no wrong in airing the documentary.
On its part, the NTA DG said “it is a matter of perception, what you describe as hate message, I might not see it in that way. Our work in NTA is in 100 per cent in compliance with NBC regulations.”
The representative of AIT declared that “we abide by broadcasting rules and strive to maintain balance in our programming. We are a private company. We make money by selling airtime. On several occasions, we have given right of reply when required.”
