Rivers State PDP governorship candidate, Chief Nyesom Wike, has accused top functionaries of the All Progressives Congress in the state of arming youths and instigating political violence across the state.
Wike, who spoke in Okposi, Ward 7 and Erema, Ward 10 in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, in continuation of his ward to ward campaigns, explained that after eight years in government, officials of the Governor Rotimi Amaechi administration and APC members thought the only way they could remain competitive was to promote violence amongst the people.
“The officials of the outgoing governor Amaechi administration are now buying guns for youths and instigating political violence across the state. They are doing this because they have nothing in terms of projects to campaign with and they think intimidation will work.
“I have news for them. They will be victims of their plans to unleash violence on our people. We have informed law enforcement agencies of the actions of Amaechi’s commissioners and officials and we believe they will take action,” he said.
He criticised the State Commissioner for Energy, Mr. Okey Amadi, who is an indigene of the area for allegedly failing to attract development project to his people.
Wike, who assured the two wards that his administration would transform their lives by providing basic amenities, also called on the people of the state to vote President Goodluck Jonathan as his opponent General Muhammadu Buhari has been known to truncate democracy in the past.
He said the future of Nigeria was dependent on the re-election of President Jonathan to consolidate on his transformation agenda.
Also, the traditional ruler of Okposi community, His Royal Highness Gideon Nwokocha, assured Wike that he would get the total support of the people of the area.
