Scores of suspected members of Boko Haram were, yesterday, killed by troops of the Nigerian Army when they attempted to attack Damboa town, the headquarters of Damboa local government area of Borno State, sources said.
A resident of the area, Mallam Mohammed Bulama, told our correspondent on phone that the insurgents, who came at about 12:00 noon, were crushed by the troops of 195 Battalion of the Nigerian Army.
He said, “Scores of the Boko Haram insurgents, who attempted to attack Damboa at about 12:00 noon, met their waterloo, as troops of the Nigerian Army intercepted them at Kalla village on the outskirts of Damboa”.
A Civilian JTF, Abbas Haske, said the insurgents were intercepted about two kilometers away from Damboa when the troops sighted them.
According to him, the army did a good job, as the corpses of the insurgents and burnt vehicles were seen scattered by the road side.
A military source told our correspondent in Maiduguri that troops in Damboa foiled the attack. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

We have a good military and I sincerely appreciate the work of our veterans. They will never be forgotten. However, I reject a situation where the government seeks to use our distinguished military for political purpose. I know the Nigerian army devoid of corruption and infiltrations can crush these boko in 1 day. Elections must hold can't wait to have a president.
