One of the members of a three-man robbery gang busted by the Police in Lagos State at Magbon, Oko-Afo, Ile-Epo area of the state, has said that they were caught because their charms failed.
Dosumu Sadiq, 21, the second-in-command, said he produces charms used during operations, to protect and prevent police from arresting them.
The other two members are Ibikunle Samson, 23, and Adebayo Moses, 20. They were arrested during a recent robbery operation along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
According to Sadiq, “unfortunately, our charms failed. That is why we were caught.”
It was gathered that the case was transferred from Morogbo Divisional Police Headquarters to Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja.
Suspect’s account
Sadiq, recounted his exploits: “I live at 27 Itaki Street, Araromi, I am an indigene of Awori in Lagos state, I was introduced into robbery by my friend, Abbey.
“Abbey and I attended Araromi Ilogbo Secondary School, in Oko-afo. Immediately I completed my secondary education in 2009, I became an apprentice to an aluminium fabricator.
“I have completed my apprenticeship. I went into robbery to raise money for my freedom. My parents are divorced and I live with my mother. I am the second child of the family. My parents do not know I am into robbery.
“I started robbery August 2014, and I have participated in about four operations. My grandfather is a native doctor; I learnt how to make charms through him. I made charms for members of the gang.
“The charms were for protection during operations and to prevent security operatives from arresting us. Abbey is the gang leader.
“We had access to the gun anytime there is an operation. We use commercial bike operators for operations because it is easy to escape with.
“I brought Samson and Moses to the gang. Their responsibility is to take us to the robbery location because they are Okada men and are familiar with the terrain.”
We have been to several successful robbery operations. Three of the operations were in Magbon, while one was at Checkpoint.”
Adebayo said: “I am from Ogun State. Dosumu is one of my street brothers. He introduced me to the leader of the gang. I joined the gang before I knew they were into armed robbery. I had made up my mind to quit robbery after the last operation, but we were arrested.”
Samson, who hails from Kwara State, but resides in Fulani Street at Ile-Epo bus-stop, said he was a commercial bike operator, adding that he was responsible for conveying members of the gang to any location.
He said: “I was always being paid after every operation. I don’t use the gun. It is Abbey and Sadiq that use the gun during operations.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
