Party leaders working for PDP’s failure – Edwin Clark

Ijaw Leader and a front line supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Edwin Clark, has accused some national leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party of being insincere in their attitude towards the second term ambition of the President.

He also accused them of following the President to his campaign rallies instead of going to their home states to also galvanise support for the President.

Clark stated this in Abuja on Saturday while playing host to the PDP Aspirants Forum, who paid him a courtesy visit.

The visit was aimed at expressing their ‎grievances over how the party treated them (PDP aspirants ) in the last primaries in various states.

Clark said he was particularly sad with the way the PDP governorship primaries were conducted in some states, especially in Adamawa State.

He said, “Everybody was ready to hold the governorship primary in Yola. People were waiting in Yola for the primary and the PDP brought the primary to Abuja overnight, hired people from Nyanya and others.

“Whereas, they held the congresses in Yola, they later resorted to hiring people to attend the primary here in Abuja.

“There is injustice in the party. Some of the national leaders don’t want the party to succeed and they are disloyal to the President.

“I have asked them to go to their states to campaign, but they refused. They are following the president everywhere. Some of them want the party to fail.”

He begged the aggrieved aspirants not to leave the ruling party for the opposition, the All Progressives Congress, saying the party had nothing to offer Nigerians other than to enthrone a Northern President.

Members of the group hinged their grievances on the ground that the party did not hold primary elections to nominate any of its candidate‎s, saying all its flag bearers were appointed by their godfathers.

  1. Baba, we ran to you at the beginning of the exercise hoping that you have the integrity to put things in proper perspective. You are part and parcel of the imposition, but now that it has destroyed pdp you are trying to distance yourself. Pdp will perform woefully in states wherever candidates are imposed. A state like Ondo where they were in clear majority is fast becoming an apc state and you and the president believed that Mimiko is in charge. Baba pdp is big lie and the coming election will show this. The leaders don't have anything to tell their people back home the reason it's so difficult to go to their respective states. End game, BABA.

  3. Poor you "elder statesman", like a commentator said, you were all part of the imposition fraud in PDP and now that the odd is against you, you tend to blame others and exonerate yourself. PDP has been fraud all the times, not today and who are those that even visited you? They must be from the Niger Delta, because you have shown your ethnicity in addressing them by saying APC only wants to impose a northerner on Nigerians. This is how you always talk and have succeeded in dividing this country along ethnic lines. You should realize that down here in the south south, other ethnic tribes are becoming weary of the Ijaws vomiting of war and all that and should not expect support from other tribes when the war comes.
