The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Tuesday extends assistance to the 158 abductees released recently by the dreaded Boko Haram militants in Yobe state north east Nigeria.
The women and children abductees were abducted in Katarko town of Gujba Local Government Area of the state located some 22 KMs south of Damaturu the state capital.
Presenting the materials to the State government, for onward distribution to the victims, the North-east coordinator of NEMA Mohammed Kanar said the gesture is to compliment the efforts earlier made by the Yobe state government as the released persons need timely support.
He command the state government for setting up a good structured in line with NEMA distribution pattern and expressed hope that the materials provided for the victims will be adequately shared.
Items distributed include; Bags of rice, Noodles, vegetable oil. Tomatoes and wrappers among others.
Receiving the items on behalf of the state government the Executive Secretary of the state the State Emergency Management Agency Alhaji Idi Jidawa thanks the federal government for the gesture and assures to distribute the materials to the victims.
The 158 victims includes 62 adults while the remaining 96 are children and were abducted late last year after attack carried out by the insurgents in Katarko town.
Of the 62 adults, 15 are now widows as a result of the attack on the town by the dreaded sect members.
