Jega holding secret meetings with APC leaders in Dubai, they plan to rig elections – Fani Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode, Director of Media and Publicity of the organisation, has claimed that the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega may be working with Nigeria’s main opposition party to rig the forthcoming elections.

At a crowded press conference in Abuja, the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, alleged that Jega had meetings with some unnamed leaders of the main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

“The matter is that INEC has failed in its responsibility to produce and distribute PVCs to about 34 per cent of registered voters who would require the cards to vote in the elections.

“This brings us to the issue of statistics of PVC distribution and collection, which we believe Prof. Jega, as a person, acting in concert with some forces of retrogression, is playing games with.

“We express our concerns today that Jega may have decided to aid the APC to rig the forthcoming elections through the manipulation of the production, distribution and collection of PVCs,” he said.
He wondered why the collection rates of PVCs in the North Central, South-South, South West and South East regions assumed to be pro-President Goodluck Jonathan, were much lower with the highest being 57 per cent.

He noted that the North West zone which includes Katsina, the home state of Buhari, APC presidential candidate, had the highest collection rate of 80 per cent.

He also wondered how come the North-East also had 75 per cent collection rate when the three states in this zone, Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, had been under the attack of Boko Haram insurgents.
“Pieces of information at our disposal have shown that Jega has had meetings with APC stalwarts in Dubai and other cities in the world to perfect this wanton conspiracy against 23 million eligible voters.

“Besides, we have information that the PVCs that Nigerians are scrambling for are not in Nigeria and will not arrive before the elections.

“These PVCs are still in China and Prof Jega has strategically delayed their arrival to suit his electioneering permutations,” he said.

APC rubbishes Fani Kayode's allegations

However, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, dismissed the allegation as utter nonsense and irritable.

Speaking in a telephone interview  on Wednesday, Mohammed said, “I’m in Abuja with some of our leaders. Baba Bisi Akande is here, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is here, former Governor Kayode Fayemi is here. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is in Lagos.

“No leader of the APC is outside the country. So, tell me who is Jega meeting? Is it members of our NEC? Not one of our leaders is outside the country. This people are paranoid. We are preparing for our NEC meeting. We have some of our governors here. The PDP is paranoid.”

But Fani-Kayode also alleged that the meeting was aimed at making sure that those who had yet to get the Permanent Voter Cards were denied the opportunity of receiving them.

The former Minister of Aviation put the number of those voters at 23 million.

Fani-Kayode added that the commission was scheming out voters in states and areas where he said supporters of the ruling party were.

Besides, he alleged that the PVCs were still at China and had yet to be imported to Nigeria.

He said, “Pieces of information at our disposal have shown that Jega has had meetings with the APC stalwarts in Dubai and other cities in the world to perfect this wanton conspiracy against 23 million eligible voters.

“Besides, we have information that the PVCs that Nigerians are scrambling for are not in Nigeria and will not arrive before the elections.

“These PVCs are still in China and Jega has strategically delayed their arrival to suit his electioneering permutations.”

Asked to provide proof about the alleged Dubai meeting, Fani-Kayode refused.

  4. God is the greatest! When these PDP were misbehaving, they never in their wildest imagination knew that one day it would come to an end and that no condition is permanent. God usually gives every human time but a specific one to carry-out his activities and the moment that time is up, you throw-in the towel but in the case of these people, they're not ready to leave. May be when it is time for them to depart from this world they'll still look for someone to put the blame on.

  10. The man called FFK lies like he was born to lie. he makes bogus allegations without proof. How can you say INEC and APC have been meeting in Dubai and you cannot state the proof. Where did they meet? When? Who were present? I wonder if FFK ever listens to himself. He is one of those scared to death of a Buhari presidency because he knows he will likely go to jail.

  13. Dear Readers,

We should be able to read between the lines and expunge some facts from the above interview of FFK.

    1. What business of the ruling party is it to know where PVCs are printed (could this be a ploy to hijack it mid way)?
    2. Why do they need to know when they will arrive or how much was paid for them, was a budget not approved for this?
    3. Can the alleged meeting in Dubai be a plot to cover up the leaked rigged Ekiti election audio?
    4. If there was a meeting as claimed, why not provide proof (video or audio) to support it.
    5. Does FFK not know that production of cards will be a continuous thing given that people were given the opportunity to register even into February.
    6. How and why can he say the people yet to get PVCs are supporters of PDP, is PDP written on their fore head to enable INEC staff know them?
    7. Can this outburst be as a result of Jega's firmness to ensure the polls are free and fair and not dancing to the tune of the ruling party?
    8. Was it all indegenes of EKITI/OSUN that got PVCs before the gubernatorial elections were held?

Please lets tell uncle FFK that if despite their derogatory adverts on the media against GMB they are still not sure of victory then there is a big problem. They should leave Jega out of the issue please and get set for elections as slated by INEC.

  14. I like the part that said.....Asked to provide proof about the alleged Dubai meeting, Fani-Kayode refused. This is a clear indication that the presidency has lost control of itself and rather than look inward for a possible reflection and reorganization, they are there apportioning blame. Of course, the blame game is all part of a calculated attempt to discredit the INEC chair who has refused to cave-in for their demands. CHANGE WE MUST HAVE COME MARCH 28
